Worst experience of all the places I've rented.

I rented this apartment with two other girls, all three of us Master's Degree Students. (Make sure to read all of this). When initially viewing the "model" apartment it appears nice. Also, they advertise such things as "gated community, "hot tub", 24 hour security, maintenance, fitness center, quiet neighborhood. Let me address all of these: first of all, this was supposed to be gated. The gate was NEVER down, and it was always broken. As soon as they would fix it, it would break again, and the key card you are supposed to use is nothing better than a plastic wallet insert because it wasn't programmed to do anything. The hot tub was not working the entire time we leased, and from the looks of it hadn't been used in years, which agreed with what other tenants stated. The 24hour security is just completely false. The only people who are on security patrol there are the police, because they are scheduled to drive through there so often due to all of the violence.Maintenance was extremely difficult to get ahold of- and most likely you had to call them back again because whatever they fixed had to be fixed again because they usually don't do it right the first time. Fitness center had on average 2 broken machines at a time. And lastly,my favorite, quiet neighborhood. Not only are there plenty of wife-beaters and creepy single guys living here, but there are actual criminals. While sleeping one night I was awakened by a loud knock on our door. In the morning I found a note on my door telling me to call the police. I went outside to find my new Ford Ranger smashed to pieces with parts of the radiator and headlights strewn across the lawn. Apparently a 19-year-old drunk kid came around the corner while driving and ran head-on into my parked car. The car alarm went off and he passed out on the grass. Neighbors heard the commotion and called the cops. The worst of it was Eagle's Landing ordered me to get my truck towed off the property immediately (no one wants to lease an apartment where this kind of thing happens). i told them I would after I took adequate pictures and made sure the kid had insurance to pay for all his damages. This was also occurring 3 weeks before my wedding. They told me if I didn't move it in 24 hours they would tow it away themselves. I had to go in and fight with the manager and tell them they weren't moving my car over my dead body, and I was taking all legal precautions before anyone was moving it. I did get the necessary pictures and legal information, but they were upset at me instead of being upset at the underage drinker who was driving and hit my car.
Overrall, I would not recommend renting in this complex even if you are dirt poor. There is better out there, and this place attracts the worst tenants imaginable. You have to keep very good track of your payments to them or they may try to tack on a late fee. What they try to sell you on are the amenities, all of which are broken or non-usable. For a safer and more classy area with more honest people try Somerset apartments or the apartments behind REI.
