The good, the bad, and the Ugly....

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007

My fiance and I have lived in three oaks for nearly two years.
I will start off with the good:
1. the floorplan & space
2. the appearance of the community (landscaping, clubhouse, etc)
3. the apartments are so close to everything. Its only a 15 minute ride to great lakes crossing or the palace and only 2 minutes to somerset collection. Maybe about 10 minutes to Oakland mall.
4. Our bottom floor apt stays cool in the summer with minimal ac.
Now on to the bad:
1. We are paying $100 more per month than ALL of our neighbors and we dont even have an updated unit. All of theirs have lots of updates.
2.When we moved in we requested to be by other tenants with no children. Now, every single neighbor in our group has at least 1 if not more kids. Now i can deal with that but they dont watch their kids. They run in and out and ride their bikes in the parking lot inbetween cars and under carports and what not. No parental supervision.
3. Everything is old and therefore breaks and instead of replacing it, all maintenance does is rig it to work again. I have had maintenance out multiple times for a garbage disposal/sink back up problem, multiple times for my bathroom flooding everytime the upstairs neighbors took a shower, the bathroom sink leaking into the cabinets, the thermostat doesnt work properly (we have to just gauge by how it feels in the apt. The list could go on.
4. Our neighbors are inconsiderate. We have had damage done to both of our cars thanks to neighbors (and that has never happend at any other place we've lived). They leave bikes infront of others doorsteps, leave garbage in the hallways, they are loud and stompy, they are awful when it comes to sharing laundry facilities and again the list goes on.
5.The parking is limited because we all have two cars and our carport is the farthest one from the building yet we've been here the longest
6. THE NEW MANAGEMENT SUCKS although one of the girls that works in the office is really nice.
7. The pool is ALWAYS crowded with unsupervised children, the volleyball pit has not been managed since we moved in, the tennis courts are ok though.
8. We have to double insulate the windows in the winter because the old windows are so drafty its crazy!
The ugly...how much anger i have built up against this apt complex over the time ive been here. I can not wait until our lease is up in MAY!
9. And i know i knew this before i moved in, but why they will allow cats but not small dogs is so stupid. I would even pay extra for "clean-up" and wear to the apt not that i would let my dog mess up the apt or wouldnt clean up after it. So i just think that is a stupid rule, especially since some dogs are smaller than cats and way less smelly and furry!
