ok, so i moved into rivers edge in july of 2000. i lived there with my step brother for 5 months. everything was ok except for you cant get anything fixed unless you do it yourself. when we moved in, the carpet was horrible, the paint was thin enough to see stains from the last coat. the screen door was always broke.
we moved out because my step brother was going to the marines. well when you join the military you are allowed to get out of any lease early. they hassled us about it for about a month. he finally had his recruiter threaten them with legal action.. so what happens' he gets charged for 7 months of rent.
so i had a friend that needed an apartment, just so happens that my old apartment was open... 6 months later. he had to wait 2 months for them get it ready. since we were friends with the guy across the hall, we had frequent updates on how nobody had touched the apartment. so hes dumb and takes that apartment because he knew the guy across the hall and it was framiliar.
so he dosent get to even see the apartment before signing the lease. we get there to check it out and reminice about the fun we had there before. well guess what, my step brothers grease stain from when he dropped a whole chicken on the floor is still there. kool aid in the bedroom, still there. even on the wall where we had a shaving cream fight there was still a blue stain. there was still dents from when i first moved in in 2000. the screen door still didnt work. they didnt even bother cleaning the air conditioner filter even though they are suposed to replace them.
so were looking at what they had dont to the apartment.. which was, nothing. a thin coat of paint and a vaccum. well my step brother was charged for new carpet. which they obviously didnt replace. he was charged for a bathroom mirror that was never broken.

we went about a week without a refrigerator.. luckily we had friends that were good with legal threats. the hot water went out for periods of about 2 weeks every month!

cars are often broken into. we had a roommate that had his stereo stolen. one night someone slashed one tire on every car in 3 parking lots. there has been rapes over and over there, there has been a few murders.. its just crazy there.

i was dumb enough to want to live there a 3rd time.. only because i had no money and was ignorant of other complexes that were cheap. i was refused because i had a felony for stealing previously. that felony was taken off my record, i was just dumb enough to put it on my application. they said that i was never allowed to live there ever and they will not rent an apartment to anyone with a felony.. i find that kind of funny because if you hit up the sexual predator web search for michigan http://www.mipsor.state.mi.us/ you will find a few that live in rivers edge.. in fact.. here is a direct link to the waterford search http://www.mipsor.state.mi.us/mipsor/cgi-bin/mipsorz.exe

i want to add that i had the same problem as someone that reviewed here about the double pay of rent.
one month they decided to "lose" our rent check and try to evict us. so we tried to fight it. well we paid with a money order and lost the damn reciept, so guess what we had to do' yup, thats right, we paid $880 for one months rent.

i dont know how its possible for this place to get away with so much. its just insane. oh, if you read any of their placements in apartment searches, they claim that they have a sparkling pool.. haha, if they even let in the pool, youll find that it is anything but sparkling. we went one time, there was ---- scattered at the bottom the pool from some little kids. somebody told us that their mother held down their shorts while they let go in the water... pretty disgusting. so that, mixed with all the goose poo dosent make for a very sparkling pool.

the management is horrible. you walk in with a problem and they will yell at you.. no joke. i swear they will yell at you. thats if you even find anyone in there. most of the time they are out smoking and dont give a rats ass that you are even there.

i would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone under any circumstances. there are other places that are cheap that wont screw you over like rivers edge.
