Worst Apartment I have EVER lived in!

I have lived here for only a short time and I have had nothing but constant problems while living here. The only positive thing it has done for us is give us the motivation to save all of our money to buy a house and get the hell out of here ASAP! The office staff is NOT helpful at all. Every problem you go to them with they pretty much tell you there is nothing they can do about it! Of course there is, that's why they have a paycheck rolling in! They do NOT enforce the rules WHAT-SO-EVER! Peace and quiet environment' In my wildest dreams! Tenants cleaning up after themselves' Unheard of at this place! Not only is the staff un-helpful and un-professional they have been flat out RUDE and nasty to us! I go to them begging for their help to end the disgust, the noise, and un-safe environment they're managing and they act like I AM the one that is out of my mind! Maybe Hines Park should do some better screening of their tenants' For once I'd like to not have myself and my guests (how embarassing) step over the drunk who lives in my building who is passed out in front of the main doorway. For once I'd like to not be kept up in the middle of the night by the couple on my floor who can't keep it down. I have went to the office numerous times and they do NOTHING. I get so stressed out by dealing with this mess I don't even go in there anymore to avoid the un-needed because I already know I'm not going to get their help!
Interior Maintenance:
The apartment wasn't very clean when we moved in. There were still stains on the carpet, dead bugs in the closet and urine (yes, URINE) in my bathtub! (Probably because our toilet has never worked properly since we moved in!) I had to thoroughly CLEAN the entire apartment before I moved in, although, it SHOULD have been done prior. It was cleaned, but not WELL. Not well at all. Oh, and can you believe when we mentioned it to Sandy in the office she stated that this was impossible as the place IS cleaned prior to a new tenant moving in' Maybe next time she should get off her butt and inspect the apartments HERSELF before telling ME how it looked when I moved in. The heat registers are rusted out and all they have done is painted over them in WHITE paint so I have rust debris all over my floor that chips off constantly. The second week I was here the bedroom door fell completely off the hinges because someone put TWO screws in it to secure it as opposed to the SIX that were supposed to be there. It seems that everything here is temporarily rigged up until it completely falls apart! The apartment hallway carpets are always dirty and full of debris. I don't know how often they come clean them, but I've seen them probably 3 times in 4 months. For twelve tenants, mind you. And the building windows are always filthy (they never clean those.) It's embarassing. I have only had one guest since I have lived here and the passed out drunk in the hallway almost scared her half to death while staring her down, and I'm sure she wasn't ecstatic but the awful smell that's always illuminating through the hallway, you'd think the Marlboro man HIMSELF lived here the way this place REEKS of cigarette smoke and in between cig's he must be smoking a doobie, too. Last week I had someone take my laundry out of the machines I pay $1.50 to use (again another office complaint with no resolution nor explanation or possible form of action on their part. Sometime within the last few days someone somehow got into our storage unit in the laundry room and stole our QUARTERS that we use for the machines. Problem, after problem, after problem.
Yes, some have posted on here indicating: "you get what you pay for." This is so true, as we only pay $600 for a two bedroom. But at Hines Park (unlike many other apartments) you DO have to pay for GAS which could be up to an extra $50-$100 a month depending on the season. So it's really NOT worth it in the long run! I wish we would spent the extra money to live somewhere quiet, clean and safe! I pay them $600 a month to live here but at times feel like they should be paying ME for all the b.s. I endure.
Do yourself a favor: look harder, pay a little extra, and get yourself a NICE place to live! I wish we would have!
