For over 2 years my husband and I rented an apartment at Harbor Cove in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. We always paid our rent on time, and never made a complaint. We gave advance notice of moveout at the end of our lease in written and verbal format.

Upon move out we took the time to patch any picture hanging holes in wall, scrubbed all linoleum floors and vaccummed all carpets. We returned our keys as requested and advised of our new address.

2 months later, we still had not received our deposit back. Calls made to the rental office did not resolve this issue. No one ever returned our calls as promised so finally my husband went there in person. He found out that they had mailed our security deposit return, to the apartment address and took so long to do it, that the postal forwarding had run out.

HELLO - IS ANYONE HOME'''' If you are sending someone a check who has moved out of your complex, why do you mail it to the complex''' They also put the check in my husband and my name, but they used my maiden name. Even though we have been married a year and a half and informed the office of the name change.

On top of all this, they docked us $100 for a "Handling Deposit"!! Michigan law states that when you charge against a security deposit you must provide an itemized list of the damages. Do you think they bothered'' (By my sarcastic tone of writing, I hope you guessed NO)

All in all I have to reccomend against renting at Harbor Cove apartments. It is a beautiful appearing place. But appearances are diseaving!! Our roof leaked, our assigned parking space consistently got assigned to someone else, the front door didn't lock, the cabinet shelves didn't hold up 2 cans of soup, and the rental office does not return calls and changes policy at whim and with no notice.
