My husband and I have lived at the Village for 2 years (unfortunately) and have had nothing but unpleasant time when dealing with both the office staff and the maintenance crew. To name a few of the problems that we've had: black mold growing in the bathroom which took maintenance 2 weeks to take a look at, two LIVE squirrels which were inhabiting our apartment (maintenance "didn't hear anything" so they chose to do nothing about it)--the squirrels eventually chewed a whole in a wall and were loose in our apartment, leaky air conditioning unit, broken (wouldn't lock) front door (they made us get a police report before they would fix it because they assumed that we kicked our own door in), no water for hours and days at a time, no heat for almost a week. As you can see, we've had more than our share of problems. The Village claims to have a 24 hour maintenance system...that's a lie! All it is, basically speaking, is a recording. If you're lucky, you might get someone to come out the next day (unless it's a weekend).
Bottom line, the rent is cheap, now you know why...the apartments are CRAP! The buildings are in poor and sometimes unsafe shape and the staff don't give a rat's behind about the residents unless you threaten them (it works, I've tried it, twice). If you can afford $100 more a month, try Bristol Square or Golden Gate, Stoneridge or any other complex down Pontiac Trail, just skip the Village unless you're desperate!
