Gretchen Pagel was found dead on the floor of her apartment. Police are seeking leads in the suspected homicide of a 23-year-old woman in Pittsfield Twp. The death of Gretchen Pagel in the Arbor Pointe Apartments complex Nov. 13. was ruled a homicide by the Washtenaw County Medical Examiner, according to Pittsfield Twp. records. Pagel, the mother of a 2-year-old girl, was found dead on the floor of her apartment at 10:56 a.m. John Phillips, Pittsfield Twp.'s director of public safety, said the homicide investigation is ongoing. Police are soliciting tips from the public. Pittsfield Twp. Police, the Michigan State Police and the Washtenaw County Sheriff Department are collaborating on the investigation. The Pittsfield Twp. Detective Bureau, the Major Case Team and Lt. Steve Heller are leading the investigation. ANN ARBOR -- A 48-year-old man who said he was on drugs and did not realize he was strangling his Washtenaw County neighbor has been sentenced to 40-60 years in prison for the slaying. Malvin L. Rushton pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder in the Nov. 13, 2003, death of 23-year-old Gretchen Pagel, whose body was found in her unlocked apartment by her toddler daughter's baby-sitter. The daughter, who was at the apartment at the time, was not harmed. Judge David Swartz sentenced Rushton on Thursday, The Ann Arbor News reported. OK. This happened in 2003, and the guy who did it is in prison. I can understand being upset if you were living there at the time, but to come back five years later and give the worst review possible is not a service to other people trying to find apartments. You have no idea what it is like to live there now.
