Wow...now thats a shocker...not! I HAD lived at International Place Apartments for many years. I stayed mainly due to the fact that the rent was inexpensive, compared to many surrounding communities, and also due to the fact that I had made many friends during my stay. However, now that I have moved away from this place and am now in my own home, I do feel compelled to voice my opinions.
This apartment community is probably not the worst place one could reside, but, then again, living in your parent's unfinished, dark and dank basement isn't either. It's rather like homeless' or International Place' The choice is yours.
During my stay, I had seen the property decline. Maintenance, groundskeeping, security, office staff..all of the things that would make a property an attractive place to live...continued to sink to new lower levels each year. But, like I said..I continued to stay. Finally, when the opportunity arose for me to purchase my own home, I high tailed it out of there. This was also at the same point when a Gold Cadillac driving drug dealer moved in below me, replacing the loud stereo playing college kids. It was also at this time that the 5 or more skater punks moved in next door, some of whom decided to sleep in the hallway.
Since my departure, I have seen that International has decided to become a "gated community". I can't help but think, however, if the gate is being put up to keep the problems inside, rather than to keep problems out. I have also noticed that they have repainted and resided some fo the buildings...its kind of like Joan Rivers getting plastic surgery...it may look better on the outside, but inside its still old and falling apart. Can we talk'
Anyway, like I said...I did stay there for many years...ignoring the drug dealers, the lack of proper maintenance, the neighbors who fought and screamed, the break in and theft of cars in the parking lot, the constant breaking of my "security door", the stench in the hallways and the disgusting laundry facilities...and all through it...I just kept aking myself..."this or homeless, this or homeless"...
The choice is yours, if I were you...I'd rather not be homeless, but, your parent's basement might be a very nice alternative.
