I lived in Aspen Chase when it was International Place, about the time they first had the security gates installed. First, I lived in the back of the complex. It was a dump, and I really think my neighbors across the hallway were dealing crack (having many couple minute visitors several times a day and strange chemical odors coming from their apartment). Only a few months after I moved in, my apartment was broken into(the window broken open and the door handle and lock busted out). Thanks to the help of a police report the management let me move to the front of the complex, but it wasn't much better there. It was very noisy (people honking horns in the middle of the night, yelling in nearby apartments), and the police came and woke me several nights because there were reports of domestic disturbances in my apartment(despite the fact that I lived alone). In fact, the police seemed to be there a lot, although the apartments stayed just as messed up. I also found out that the old apartment I lived in never got a new lock on the door, so for months bums and such were breaking in and living there. The final straw came when a man was following me in his car while I was walking home from my friend's apartment. He stopped me and made a statement that now he knew where I lived. This place is just not safe. I ended up breaking my lease because I was tired of living in the ghetto. The kicker to it all came after I left, my friend who lived in the middle of the complex was robbed at gun point in front of his apartment and got a huge bruise on his face from being pistol whipped.
Oh yeah, laundry sucked. None of the dryers worked. One day I found poop in the laundry room. Also my clothes were stolen once.
Maintenance sucked. My second apartment never had a nob for the shower, even though I asked for one many times. The dishwasher overflowed and maintenance never could fix it, so I didn't use it. Two of the burners on the stove didn't fit, so they didn't work. And there were bugs (cockroaches, ants, centipedes, and spiders), despite how hard I tried to keep my apartment clean. Plus one time I spilled some kitty litter in the parking lot(only a couple handfuls) and the maintenance guy knocked on my door and practically screamed at me to clean it up.
I would definitely warn anyone to stay away from these apartments. These are unfriendly grounds, to say the least.
