Aspen Chase is unsafe, irresponsible, and reckless.

I've been waiting to write this review since midway through my lease and finally I'm clear of the Aspen Chase cloud that hung over my family's head and can write this.
Aspen Chase is NOT what it appears, here is some information from my one year stay there:
When my wife and I were still dating she received threatening texts and e-mails from her ex-boyfriend that said he was going to find us and harm us. While we went through the process of getting a restraining order we asked some very simple things of Aspen Chase like... not to allow visitors for our apartment when the gated security started at night. And they absolutely would not help us or work with us in any way other than to let us fill out a sheet for their loss prevention department.
After the threats subsided and a few months went by we started getting a lot of flat tires, most of which were from screws. So again we suspected the ex-boyfriend and went to the office and asked if any visitors had come recently for our apartment and signed in at the gate, and again all they offered to do was let us fill out a form for loss prevention.
And when we weren't getting threatened by ex-boyfriends, we were getting threatened by Aspen Chase... CONSTANTLY. Every other week it seemed like there were new fliers posted all over the complex with a warning that if we did (insert random act here) we would be in violation of our lease and could be evicted. Reasons included: "toxic marijuana fumes", not picking up after your pet, grills on the balcony, clutter on the balcony, unruly guests, having door mats, not paying your utilities in full, etc... Whether or not these things are real reasons to evict you or not, we didn't need to all be threatened with these Orwellian fliers as much as we were. I personally got a letter from Aspen Chase threatening to evict us if we didn't pay the $2 DTE balance we had mistakenly accrued.
On top of all this my wife and I began to feel increasingly unsafe around our fellow tenants. It seemed like more and more shady characters were moving in and neither one of us really felt safe walking around at night. The fact that Aspen Chase kept sending people fliers about car's being broken into and such didn't help that fear either. My wife and I even witnessed a police foot chase across the complex IN BROAD DAY LIGHT. We couldn't move out fast enough, in fact we moved out a month before the lease expired just to get away from Aspen Chase.
Some of the maintenance people are very rude too. One individual in particular, I believe his name was Rocky though I'm not certain, constantly insulted our intelligence and left jobs undone. When we first moved in our dishwasher overflowed into the kitchen so we called maintenance and this guy was insulting me from the get-go. Asking if we were using the right soap and various other ridiculous questions. Turns out the drain hose had not been properly installed into the garbage disposal. IMAGINE THAT! Then our AC never seemed to work very well, it took three calls to maintenance over several months before it ever got fixed. Rocky, or whatever his name was, claimed that the AC would never cool the room more than 10-15 degrees below the temperature outside. During a few days where there were heat warnings we couldn't get the apartment under 90 degrees, clearly something wasn't working. Finally we went to management and begged them to fix it, a new unit was put in and the AC worked just like it was supposed to, 10-15 degrees below what the outside temp was. Generally though, whenever a request was put in the maintenance people first accused us of doing something wrong or basically being idiots, and then fixed it as a last resort.
I really can't say enough bad things about this place. It was loud, ghetto, unsafe, ridiculous, threatening, small, etc...
The only good thing was an office employee named Chris who was a tremendous help to us doing the move out process and was always very honest and frank with us, never lied to us, never treated us like we were stupid, very professional.
Oh and about that whole security deposit, I paid them over $600 between a pet deposit and pet rent and they kept my entire security deposit and sent me a bill for having to clean the carpets extra on account of us having had pets there. I was ready to call them with a head full of steam and take them to court and the whole nine yards but I'd rather just have this whole nightmare be over with. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE, not even my worst enemy.

Interesting that your dishwasher overflowed into your kitchen due to a faulty drain hose connection into the garbage disposal...When I lived in Aspen Chase about 5 years ago, the neighbor above me had the same problem...and it caused a nice amount of ceiling damage in my kitchen (which the maintenance crew did not fix for several months in spite of my constant requests). Sounds like no one there learns from their mistakes...

Yep, we had a million maintenance issues and they showed up promptly to fix them. And by fix them I mean treat us like idiots or children and then generally not fix them. We had an electrical outlet in the kitchen that if we plugged just about anything into it would trip the breaker, clearly there were some electrical issues. I just never plugged anything in there and never bothered to get anyone out there because I didn't feel like going through the hassle. Really cruddy place to live.

I am a current resident for several years and this place has really gone down the crapper in the past year.No one responds to service requests,it is unsafe, the management really could care less about the tenants,it is unkept, the bookkeeper is an airhead who makes mistakes every billing cycle.Lease or not,I am going to ditch this place as soon as I am able to do so.
