Barnes and Barnes apartments are shiny and nice looking on the outside and the inside, but what many people fail to realize is for all the paint and curbside appeal, they are ypsilanti slum-lords. I rented from them and I can personelly attest that going in I was comfortable with my experience, trying to get my security deposit back was impossible. They're run by drunks and are only after your money, not satisfying their customers. If you have already lived in their property's and are reading this, then you know whats up.If you signed up for the next school year, cancel you lease and save yourself a bunch of trouble. I was here to goto college, not be ripped off.If you want to be ripped off, goto barnes and barnes apartments, they're experts at it. Goodday

More than likely someone who was evicted, or decided they wanted to rent somewhere differently halfway through a lease and is pissed that Barnes wouldn't let them out of their lease. I've asked around town, and 99% of people tell me that Barnes are the best landlords here.

I am the original poster of this entry. All of the previous assumption on scenrio's surrounding my situation are false. Barnes and Barnes are rip off artist, don't let their efficently organized operation fool you. You would do best commuting into school from belleville or canton rather then be subject to Barnes and Barnes or any other "Ypsi-Slumlord". History is to be used to learn from the past, and as I am not about to put my personel history out, I have to pledge to you the reader that my experience and those of my numerous friends who at one time rented form Barnes and Barnes all had horrible experiences. Save yourself the frustration and get out of Ypsi, either that or live on campus. Drunks with money/muscle to impress lawyers, unneeded repairs and general extorsion artist don't belong in the lives of college students. Move on from the idea of making the best of a situation and choose the better choice. I am moving to belleville!

There's no doubt in my mind that this is a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity who lived at 417 W. Forest St. Stories are very widespread of the damage and destruction that was caused by this fraternity to the house, equaling out to over $10,000 in repairs. You should be ashamed of yourself for trying to pass blame as well as slanderous comments onto the owners when it's obvious that the ill will you feel towards them is in direct relation to the money that will soon be coming out of your pocketbook to cover those damages.

Sounds like Jessica in the office is, again, making comments on reviews and getting paid for it. This is another Barnes and Barnes slum lord move and should not be tolerated by any means. This is the worst rental company in Ypsilanti and I would rather rent form Romaine, if that tells you anything, and live next to a bunch of crackheads and drug dealers.

just had a water leak in the bathroom... i mean a huge one, seriously sounded and looked like a waterfall flowing under the sink all my things under there are soaked and ruined. had a whole bag of toilet paper ruined. there houses are crap, things fall apart easy and stove does not work right. the guy didnt even fix it when i put it down on the sheet in the begining of moving in. Any way i am afraid to have them come fix things cause i hear they charge 40 bucks or so to fix things during any time you ask. is that true???

No, they'll fix anything for free unless you deliberately caused it by negligence. In the past, they completely redid our bathroom, replaced kitchen tiling, and fixed rubber sealing around our door for free. Anyone who tries to convince you that a landlord charges tenants for routine repairs is an idiot.
