Flo-mar apartments are very clean and nice to live in but, it is really too overpriced for college students. I lived there for two years and it was so-so. It was good in the beginning and the staff was nice. The one thing was the most annoying thing was this old guy who would patrol the complex looking for someone to bust doing something wrong. We had a window open in our apartment in the middle of July and my roomate got a phone call from her mom saying that her grandfather passed away. Of course, she was hysterical. The old guy called the police on my friend and threatened to press noise violation charges on her even after we had explained what happened. Another thing off the top of my head is that we had major problems with our drainage system in the bathroom and finally they came to fix the problem after we sprung a leak on the people below us apartment. Then they tried to tell us that we had to pay for the pipes and for the damage. MY ASS!!! Needless to say, nothing ever came of it. The owner and the manager are OK people sometimes not understanding. To be honest, I have been at EMU for 6 years and there are better places to live for way cheaper...guess you gotta decide if you want to pay out the ass for no room at all.

The "old guy" that this person is referring to has moved out of his apartment. As far as the water leak is concerned, we did not try to charge these tenants for any pipes and there was no damage that required repair. However, upon move-out we did charge the tenants for the water bill because it was in their lease that they were responsible for paying for water. Regardless, they had not paid their water bill for the last five months of their tenancy and in the last two months that they lived there, one of their bathroom pipes developed a leak. The tenants admitted that they knew there was a leak but they did not report it to Flo-Mar to be fixed. Therefore, they were responsible for paying for the water, even when it was leaking. If they HAD reported the leak and Flo-Mar had neglected to fix it in a timely manner, we would have paid for the water that leaked. We encourage our tenants to be attentive to problems in their apartment and report them immediately for repair to avoid having small problems "snowball" into costly repairs. -Rachel Cuschieri-Murray Manager 734-483-2240 |
