The apartments appear nice at first but are way overpriced. Parking is horriable and they say if you car gets towed out of their lot even with a sticker it is your fault. There are also a half-way house near by and the crazy people to come to Flo-Mar often. When you tell the people in the office about it they act as if it is not true. The office workers are really nice until you sign a lease.

You get what you pay for and the consensus is that Flo-Mar has the best value for your dollar. Flo-Mar's apartments are some of the nicest in the City, yet are less expensive than those that are similar in quality. Yes, you can find less expensive apartments elsewhere but you will not receive the same value in the amenities of the apartment (new kitchens & bathrooms & free high-speed internet in many), nor will you receive the same level of attention when you have maintenance problems. People who have rented cheaper apartments and then moved to Flo-Mar will tell you that it is worth every penny you pay to live in a well maintained building that is managed by a company that cares about its tenants.

Furthermore, Flo-Mar's parking policy is very clear (you can read it at our website, www.flo-mar.com) and states that you must have a valid parking permit properly displayed to avoid being towed. This is typical of most properties in Ypsilanti and it protects residents from having their parking spots taken by people who do not live in the building. If you do have a valid sticker as this posting suggests, you would not be towed... and if you were towed, your vehicle would be returned to you for free.

It is true that there is a halfway house near one of our buildings, however we have never experienced any problems from any of the residents. They have always been friendly and participate in neighborhood events (like the neighborhood block party). If anyone is uncomfortable with their presence, it may be because they have not taken the time to meet those individuals or any other neighbors. We always encourage our tenants to be good neighbors and get involved in the community so that they'll feel more at home in their apartment. In fact, every year we host a "welcome party" in September and have in attendance Flo-Mar residents, police & firefighters (including the Police & Fire Chiefs), City Council Representatives, as well as the Mayor of Ypsilanti. To view pictures of the 2005 welcome party (as well as others) visit our website at www.flo-mar.com. And, as always, if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call us at 734-483-2240.

They don't threaten to randomly tow cars, but they do say if your sticker is not displayed properly they will- I think this is great! It is really hard to find safe, reliable parking in Ypsi, and Flo Mar works hard to keep the renter lots free of other people's random cars.

The apartments are worth every dollar for the speedy matience and friendly staff. Yes, you could move into some hell hole somewhere the same size for much cheaper, but you won't have the same response time or care.

It sounds like you're quick to sterotype halfway houses. I think you need to spend some time evaluating your subconcious fears and anxieties, and possibly volunteer at a halfway house and meet the people there before deciding they're all loonies and not worth your time. It could be good for you.

I do not rent from Flo-Mar but I have been in their places and they are much nicer than most of the surrounding apartments (such as the ones that I have lived in). If I were willing to pay the extra cash, I would rent from Flo-Mar. Also, your parking issue is the standard everywhere in Ypsilanti. I would suggest moving to a place that has free parking on the street.
