We moved in last summer, and will be leaving when our lease is up next month. The office staff is friendly, the 2 or 3 times I've seen them besides the fire, but thats probably because they don't actually have an office on site. If you have to go to the office, you have to drive into Ann Arbor on Maiden lane. How convient, huh' There is also no out going mail- the closest mailbox is at Kmart. We live on the bottom floor. Bad idea. With all the rain we've gotten, out floor leaks from bottom up. (The carpet is soaked, and smells funny) The cabinets are falling apart. Maintence does a decent job of repairs, but it takes a month or so to get them out here... I blame the poor communication within the office. The doors all stick (when my roommate comes home late at night, she wakes up everyone in the apartment because it sticks so bad, same with the bathroom door, and the closet door.) there is no bathroom storage, which really sucks. The shower/tub area is rather disgusting. The grout is yellow, and the tiles are damaged, and there are several cracks in the walls. There is absolutly NO ventilation in the bathroom. If you want to take a bath, keep the door open. The toilet seat has been broken since we moved in, but apparently nothing can be done about it. The entrance door is messed up. For awhile, you didn't need a key to get in, and the rest of the time, it takes 5 minutes to get your key to work. The water smells funny, and ventilation in the kitchen is as bad as that in the bathroom. We had to disconnect our fire alarm because every time we cooked, it went off. Not all of the units are occupied, and the ones that aren't are not checked regularly, so when pipes burst, no one knows until its too late. Kids leave their bikes everywhere. I got home one night, and had to walk upstairs, then down two flights because bikes blocked my stairwell. The neighbors are quiet and keep to themselves, and the buildings are spread out. The lighting at night sucks. I hate coming home at 4 in the morning from work because I can't see, and we live in ghetto Ypsi. Free Heat is a joke- its regulated to 70 degrees in the winter. Good luck staying warm. Thats enough for me

what do you think of the neighbouring Golfview Manor ? is it a safe area ? please tell me more ..

I've lived in Golfview Manor for about two years now, and never had a problem with feeling safe. The maintenance staff does a pretty good job of keeping up with the service requests. I would definitely recommend them over Golfside Apts.

I read this review for a minute and thought I had written it! This is the worst place to live. I have come home from class twice and caught maintenence guys in my apartment "checking the pipes" which here at Golfside means going through your kitchen cupboards/hall closets. At this point I'd rather live in a tent than live here!

I have been a resident at Golfside for a year and am so grateful my lease is up and I can get out of this ghetto pit! Office personnel are clueless, the washer/dryers never work; my bathroom also is disgusting. My tub has peeled from the time I moved in. I asked to have my a/c replaced this past summer because it is at least 15 years old and in late September rec'd a call from the office regarding my request (which was made in June). Turns out they installed it in September but to the apt right below mine by mistake. I have to say this is the very worse place I have ever lived and if you are considering living here, please reconsider.
