So far, no complaints!

This is my first apartment, and I live with my girlfriend. We moved into a one bedroom apartment. Yes, it's kind of small compared to other places, but we went with this place because of all the places we looked, it felt the most safe and was a reasonable price (especially after all the deals.)
We've had no complaints so far. I don't encourage my girlfriend to take midnight walks around the complex... but that's because of the area itself, not the apartment complex. The staff in the office is always nice to me when I walk in, very cheerful. Most of all, and what prompted me to write this, was the maintenance staff. They are very considerate and blew me away with their service the first time I encountered them (to fix the intercom unit.)
They were genuinly polite, wiped their feet, asked if they could come in, smiled, introduced themselves, etc. I actually trusted them to stay and work as I left for work.
Also, the parking lot is always half-empty, and we got lucky I guess and don't live near noisy neighbors. The only thing I can pick out that is bad is the building themselves... the paint is chipping in a lot of them, and the outsides just look drab. I'd like to see them renovate or at least repaint and recarpet a few buildings.
Another funny thing is the gaited community. It's a joke, because one of the other entrances is usually always open. And they only monitor it and require a passkey between 7pm-3am. And come to think of it, the security person is the only rude person I've encountered. I think my rent would be better spent on upkeep and restoration than paying her salary.
But overall, no real complaints. Unless they jack up the rent, we'll probably stay.
