The short version: the staff is clueless, maintenance is a joke, and the buildings are all but falling apart. It's way overpriced.

The long version: Where do I start'

I've lived here for two years, in two different units (a one bedroom, then a two bedroom). While I didn't have any complaints during the first year, the second has been miserable.

First, I kind of had some suspicions about the staff from the start, but recently it's just been obvious: they don't have a clue. Mostly, I think it boils down to poor communication. Example:

On three different occasions I received notice (haphazardly taped to my door) that I was overdue on my rent payment and would face legal action. And on three different occasions, I went to the office with my receipts in hand, showing that not only did I pay, but I paid DAYS in advance. On all three occasions, the person 'helping' me couldn't do anything and had to make copies for someone else. On all occasions, I was told someone would contact me. Nobody ever did. I assume they figured it out since a lawyer hasn't yet knocked on my door.

It's as if training just didn't stick. A simple question takes about 3 people to answer, and if you have a concern or maintenance request, prepare to spend at least a half hour in the office explaining it to them so they can try to condense your problem down into three words for the maintenance staff to read.

And when maintenance gets the request' Well, they probably just throw it away. I have no proof, but when you have to call back 4 times, on average, to get somebody to "find" the request, something is wrong. And forget about maintenance calling you back directly. Example:

My A/C sucks. It's on, full blast, pretty much 24 hours a day, struggling to keep the apartment at 79 degrees. It's not just my electric bill that is annoying; the unit itself is so old the apartment vibrates when it's on and you have to shout to be heard. It was like this in both apartments. So I called to ask if there was anything they could do. And called. And called. And called. And called the manager. And went down to speak to the manager in person.

Three weeks later, I took a day off work to meet with the guys because they "couldn't identify any problems." I was told they'd meet me at 2pm. When 3pm rolls around, I call the main office. Of course, the person I'm speaking with is clueless (no communication') so they give me the maintenance number. So, I call, and leave several messages asking politely for someone to call me back. NO RESPONSE. The polite thing to do would be to call me and say, "We're running late," at least. Eventually I get in touch with the manager who says someone will meet me at 3:15. When 3:45 rolls around, two guys come by and bang around in the A/C closet, then come out and say, in summary, "there's nothing we can do, it's operating at peak efficiency."

"Really'" I say. "I have it on and the temperature goes UP, and that's normal'"

"Yessir, I mean, the air coming out is cool so there's nothing we can do. Just let it run ALL THE TIME, it'll eventually go down."

Note: it hasn't. At the very least, shouldn't A/C be able to HOLD the temperature' Not once have we ever had it on and had the temperature inside go down. Most of the time it goes up a degree or two.

It's an insulation issue, what with doors made in the 1970s, and they just don't feel like tackling *that* work load.

The apartments are in desperate need of renovation: new insulation, better craftsmanship and more ducts. New A/C units that were made this century (literally). Instead, they spend my $800 a month putting in new roads (which took damn near 2 months to do) which are already starting to show wear, and putting in new balconies.

Of course, since I'm in the back of the property where no prospective resident will see, my balcony has yet to be done and probably will be dead last (as far as I can tell, every other building has their's done).

I could go on for hours, but those are the main issues I have.

I dislike this property so much, when I see staff giving tours to prospective residents I have the urge to run up on them yelling "don't move in here!" If you tour this apartment and see somebody run up on you, it's one of two things: me, or the two homeless guys in pajama pants who walk around asking for work.

But, hey, parking is great.

Yes the book keeping is very sloppy, they lose payments, credit them to the wrong accounts & still hold you accountable even when you show them proof of payment!!!!!!!!!!!
