So Happy!

First, I want to comment on the price. For the reviewer who said they pay Ann Arbor price for a Ypsi address, "Who are you kidding'" A two-bedroom, two-bath in A2 would cost much more than $829...more like over $1000. As for our apartment, we pay $679 for a one bedroom, but rent would increase for us if, when its time to renew our lease each year, we elect not to renew for one more entire year. We used to live in Ann Arbor, paid much higher rent, and were so unhappy with the conditions of any cheap apt in Ann Arbor. (Edited 8/24/04, our rent did raise $20 per month this year, but in exchange for signing the lease promptly, we were given a $200 credit for our next month's rent...pretty nice, huh')

The location here is great! It is so close to I-94 and US-23...it really isnt Ypsi at all. (Yes, I know how "embarassing" it is to admit thats our address) Voting district is Pittsfield township and School System is Ann Arbor. The only drawback to the location is trying to exit onto US-12 during rush hour...not fun.

The apts are kinda noisy...okay, really...or it could just be our neighbors. We hear everything! And I do mean everything...even their late nite activities. Some of the other reviewers mention that the noise levels are very low, but perhaps they live in the newer additions. We live in the first set of apts built (Phase 1) and, Im not kidding, you really can hear everything...tvs, people in the bathroom, or just walking around...In fact, last night my husband and I could hear every word our next door neighbor was saying as we tried to sleep at 2am (we think he was on the phone, because no one was answering him back..haha)But, our noise level is somewhat tolerable because, or at least it seems so, all of our neighbors are out of town a lot, So we dont have to hear that stuff all the time.

When we moved in, we were on a budget, so we declined an apt. with a "view." (I believe it was about $50 more per month--not sure) But, now, since it is spring, I wish we had opted for the view. The "views" face the ponds; when my husband and I go on walks we see lots of ducks, Canada geese, and Heron!!! (Blue Heron are so cool to watch...and when youre walking, they tend to get spooked, but if you were inside an apt, they wouldnt know.) Lots of Birds too. (8/24/04 How bummed was I to read about the reviewer who got the "view-fee" waived...I really do recommend opting for that)

We also did not opt for a garage, which is an additional $50, and now we wish we did. There isnt much storage space inside the apt (and the little "closet" outside doesnt help us too much--we probably just have too much stuff!) We are now on a waiting list for one. (There are some available, but not near our apt and who wants to walk 10 minutes to get to your car') So, I would suggest nabbing one of those right away if you decide to move in. (8/24/04 I have to agree with that post about the parking...it can be pretty cramped. I think that's really because you have a few inconsiderate people who park in those spaces that seem like that could be for their building, but are actually for the building right next to them...that and so many residents don't have their guests park further away...that's pretty frustrating.)

We did recently have a problem with a busted pipe in the wall of our bedroom...big moldy mess. But, maintenance was right on the ball, stopping the leak and making everything "like new" again.

A little warning about this "great" place though. You have to pay for your own water, electric, and gas. The water, for just two of us, is about $20/mo. But gas and electric runs pretty close to $100...

Very nice community, We have finally found a place that we didnt intend to leave as soon as the lease is up...Thank God! Staying put....

Additional comments from 8/24/04: We recently got new management and they are SOOOO great! So effecient and friendly. In response to car-break-ins and a "peeping tom" that pittsfield township had, they sent us flyers immediately to notify us of the situations. (providing us with the phone number of the police department and various safety measures/precautions to take.) They are also installing intercom entry systems for the front doors. (although crime is really low in the area and those recent incidents are very out of the norm) I really appreciate knowing that they are as concerned for my safety as I am.
