I have lived in a lot of apartments in my time and trust me this one takes the cake! I have lived there for 5 months and have had the maintenance people at my apartment 15 times. My apartment bedroom has flooded twice leaving the carpet stained. The first time it flooded it ruined a lot of my stuff. The office sent someone to extract the water before the problem was even fixed so the room flooded again within hours. They came and "fixed" the problem over the next week. The apartment complex decided to use my electricity to run industrial size fans for 10 full days to dry the floor and then offered me 20 bucks for the electric bill once I complained when the bill was more than double my normal cost. (later I threw a fit and was given a fair amount for the bill). The bedroom again flooded about 2 months later leaving the bedroom unable to be used. My child had to sleep in the living room. I called the office they sent some kid over to fix it, he cut a large hole in the wall and left it there for over a week! Over the weekend (after the hole was cut in the wall) the floor became soaked again and my bathtub would not drain. I called the office and was asked if I could "put towels on it" and wait until Monday because the "EMergency" maintanence man was in Livonia and didnt want to drive to Ypsilanti. The guy finally showed up but couldnt do anything until Monday. I was told that the apartment would probably flood again because they know that it is the a/c that is causing it, but it would not replace it because it is too costly. It took almost two weeks before I could use the bedroom again.
Besides those two instances, my garbage disposal has broken atleast three times, my light fixture in the dining room fell and scratched up my brand new table, my toilets have been backed up several times, my sinks, toilets and bathtub has had to be snaked several times, I didnt have hot water 5 times in two weeks ( not to mention it didnt get fixed until I called and complained to the corporate office), and I was without electricity for the first two weeks I lived there because the office owed DTE money and they refused to pay it. All of this is just my apartment within a 5 month span.....I really wish that I was exaggerating, but I'm not! Oh, I almost forgot, two months ago I had a really bad problem with centipedes and spiders in my apartment. I called the office to have them spray and they asked me how many bugs did I kill a day. They wanted to know if it was something I could live with...and now I have termites!

Did I mention that my friend who moved into the building next to me was giving the keys to his apartment and the apartment was nasty! The bathtub was rusted completly out and the doors of the shower were soaking in some kind of bleach in the tub, there were mold in the toilets, cigarette butts on the floors, the kitchen was disgusting and the carpet was not finished. The office was notified and all they did was offer a gift card for a free dinner to Applebees.

The grounds of the apartment are a mess as well. Most of the grounds do not have grass, just dirt. The bushes, as far as I can tell, have never been trimmed, there are cracks in the sidewalks, and the parking is horrible. The outside of the building is covered in dirt and cobwebs and there are tons of large spiders all over the place.

The office did not owe DTE money the previous resident did. The office sent 3 days on the phone helping this resident get it fixed while she was at work boy that sounds like customer service. She was given a very fair amount to the DTE bill for the air movers. There are only a few work orders put in for is apartment and all where addressed and maybe if this resident would have spoke to the manager she could haved moved to a different unit. As for the friends apartment she failed to mention the office has it cleaned, the tub reglazed and a new shower stall put up so a gift card wasnt they way we fixed it, it was a gesture. When the "friend was addressed they never expressed and discontent so its none of her concern.I fell bad that she has had such a bad experience here and if she would have addressed the manager instead of calling the corporate which she failed to mention we had the "hot water part on order" before she even called. I live int he same building as this resident and she her daily not once has she brought any of this to my attention.

Can we please clear some things up. My review was not a personal attack on the office or the staff at Huron View. My review was just that....a review of my apartment and the terrible luck that I have had. The office staff has been very helpful when my problems occurred, there is only so much that they can do with such old apartments. It is true that the manager worked for several days on the DTE issue and that I got a fair amount for my energy bill (I listed that in my first review). I appreciate all the help I have received, the problem is only with the actual apartment. I know that I could of complained everytime that I seen the manager in my building, but I did not want to bother her when she is not in the office...I think it is rude to bother her after hours. I know that I could probably get a different unit but that is a huge inconveinence, not to mention costly when you add up transferring service costs and the actual move. As for the hot water issue, the manager was aware that I was calling corporate about the water because she gave me the number and I was not told that it was on order at that time. I hope this clears everything up. Once again this review is only about my apartment. Just like any other place I am sure there are good reviews and bad ones....I just happen to have a bad apartment.
