NEVER LIVE HERE
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 8/11/2009
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
It all started with the move-in. The day I moved in, my apartment was not ready for move-in. The overhead fan was broken to the point where the blades were sagging down--broken. The refrigerator shelves were broken to the point where you couldn't put anything on them. All the closet doors were off the hinges and leaned against the wall. The blinds were brown, but they're supposed to be white'!!'! There were doors without handles' Day 1-- not so good-- management acted like they were shocked by the state of my "new apartment". It took about 3 weeks to get those things fixed, some of which were never fixed. In those 3 weeks, I woke up early in the morning to find THOUSANDS of ants in the kitchen. I've never seen and infestation like that before in my life. Then, about a month later, my refrigerator broke. I notified management as soon as I found out (around 11AM) it wasn't working. Maintenance came 4 separate occasions that day, leaving each time saying it was fixed. I lost all of my groceries due to their poor maintenance and poor response to this emergency. After hassling them for over 12 hours, they brought me a new fridge in the middle of the night.
Then, the saga continues. A roommate allowed his gf and best friend to move in without my permission, they were not on the lease as tenants or occupants. I asked repeatedly for assistance in removing these unauthorized people from my home. Management responded to me with "we could have them removed because you are in breach of your contract, but it costs us too much money, we are CHOOSING to do nothing". I pay rent, I dealt with their less than poor maintenance, and they were refusing to aid me in living in my home in peace. They then, at the end of the lease, forced me to pay the damages that were caused by the very people I was asking to remove.
Don't be dazzled by their low rent. Their rent is cheap because their employees are cheap, untrained, uneducated, rude, and extremely unprofessional. The neighborhood is extremely unsafe. Police were outside my building at least 2 times a week. Car theft and break-ins are nothing out of the ordinary in this complex. The grounds are repulsive, I don't think the management even knows what a flower is. Laundry is in every other building, so have fun trudging through the rain and snow to do your laundry in mediocre facilities.
If you want to pay next to nothing for rent and don't mind living in what feels like a cheap motel-- this is the place for you. Otherwise, I would not even recommend Huron View apartments to Adolf Hitler.
