We live in a one bedroom on the third floor facing the parking lot. We have two neighbors who consistently have people yelling up to their apartments to throw down their door keys because while the front of building has a buzzer, there?s no way to ?buzz people in?, which sucks. The parking lot also serves as a shortcut for people coming home from the bar. There are several nights a week when the noise is just ridiculous at times and usually at 2:00 am.
There are people who are quite and then there are idiots who exist for no other reason than to behave like 12-year-olds and make as much racket as humanly possible. We have a rap concert underneath us and a frat house on the other side of the living room. I just thank god that there?s a large storage room on the side our bedroom is on so we don?t have any noise coming from that side while we?re sleeping.
There is no central air and it is unbelievably hot in the summer or any time it?s warm outside. There?s an air conditioner in the living room but it helps VERY little.

Having said all that; the landlord is a very nice man who?s here every day and is quick to help with maintenance or any other problems. The rent is very affordable. We?re paying $520.00 for a small one bedroom, the large one bedroom?s are $560.00 but I?m not sure how much the 2 bedrooms are. If you?re going to EMU it?s a great location because all you have to do is walk across the street to get to class.

When our lease is up we will either work with the landlord to get a different apartment on the first or second floor that isn?t facing the parking lot or we?ll be finding someplace else to live.
