I was looking for apartments and visited the Meadows based on its high rating on this website. The management was friendly as was the maintenance guy, and I was considering signing a lease with them. Before doing that, however, I drove by the place at night (something I always do when scouting out potential places) and witnessed some people attempting to kick-in someone's door. They didn't get in and ran off. By the time I realized what I just saw, they were gone. I'm not sure if this was a random act, but it was scary nonetheless. When I talked to someone about it later, they told me that the Meadows was "rough." I decided not to lease there and wanted to share my story to encourage others to fully check out a place before renting.

I have lived at The Meadows for four years and I've never seen anything like this. It is always quiet and I honestly can't recall anything bad ever happening. I don't see how someone can give an accurate review if they have never even lived here. Just look at the other ratings. The Meadows is a fantastic community!

Depending on who you asked, who said the meadows was "rough", I have not heard that. It used to be not so nice when it was owned by the former management Triangle Management, who I can tell you useless slum lords. I've heard good things now new management has taken over.

It USED to be rough...ten years or so ago. Then, the apartment management changed and they kicked out the druggies and other types. This is a random incident. Ypilanti apartments in general are rough...lots of fights and bad managers. This community is much, much safer and quieter than the rest in the area. Oh, yeah...given the gas station on the corner is robbed at least three times a week (seriously), the LACK of breakins here just proves our point that this is a safe complex. Check out all of the apartments in Ypsilanti at night, then come back here.

I live at the Meadows. I've been there since September, 2007. I live in one of the units in the back and I was robbed last evening. My door was basically pryed open and then kciked in. The "one door leading to the outside" is a serious security flaw. There's only one piece of metal (dead bolt) attached to a albeit steel 2 by 4 but still the whole thing is attached to the flimsy wall so it doesn't matter anyway. I can vouch for the friendliness of the staff but obviously security needs to take precedence. If you have valuables in your house (which you do) or you have children, you should not come here.

Imagine that... and this incident happened this year. Ignorance to the fact that there is crime is not going to make it disappear. To anyone thinking of moving here or anywhere for that matter, contact your local police station and get a report of the crime in the area you will be surprised what you find. I am so grateful that there are websites like this one to inform people of what they may or may not be getting themselves into before they do.
