I was greatly thankful when I found this apartment because I had just moved to the area, I did not have a car, and I needed an apartment that was close to school. I liked the idea of each roommate being on a separate lease and the fact that the apartment was fully furnished. However, now that I've lived here for a while, I sometimes wonder if I would have fared better by getting an apartment somewhere else and buying used furniture until I got financially stable. I like the amenities and the fact that they are patient with students who get financial aid (On two separate occasions, Eastern has been delayed in processing my financial aid-thus delaying my refund check for several weeks).
However, for those who view Peninsular as "The Promised Land", just remember that all that glitters isn't gold. I don't like the fact that my friends have to park in off-site parking and walk a long distance to my apartment if they want to visit. For that reason, I rarely invite people to visit. I don't like the fact that my roommates and I were stuck with a huge electric bill due to the fact that our air conditioning was wired incorrectly. I don't like the fact that one of my neighbors was throwing playing music so loud that my walls were shaking and my lamp fell over and (to my knowledge) nothing was done by management. However, I realize that no apartment complex is perfect and that no matter where I live, it's going to have it's ups and downs. I've decided that until something better comes along, I can live with the loud train, and noisy neighbors. At least it's a place to live. There are a ton of people in homeless shelters who would love to have a place of their own.
