anything higher than 2% is definitely a generous rating...

I can't think of a single person I have talked who actually likes or enjoys living in this complex. Everyone is trying to find a subleaser or just moving out and dealing with payments. Let me tell you why...
1. Electricity bills are through the roof...I'm not sure how, but my roommates and I pay $150/mo on electric bill. We keep our apartment below 70 at all times and rarely use the lights to try and lower it. There have been issues in the past with wiring mixups, I wouldn't be surprised if we're paying for someone else to stay warm/see at night. I also would be surprised if our warm air is seeping out of the walls and windows...considering that exterior walls are much thinner than standard dimensions. AND the interior walls might as well be paper...
2. Parking is awful. Not only do you have to park a minimum of 5 minutes away if you get back any later than 730...you have to worry about the rapist, murders, and robbers that lurk in the bushes of peninsular place. There is supposedly a courtesty safety group that will walk you back to your apartment, but what is going to stop a crazy person from attacking' Maybe if they added the 100 parking spots that they forgot to put in the plan, this wouldn't be such an issue.
Oh, and don't even think about having anyone over who doesn't have a pass...they will get towed immediately. The guest passes are always checked out. There is also a supposed $100 fee they charge...but that is never followed through...I know soooo many people who have had their guest passes for at least 4 months now.
3. This place is in a horrible location. Granted Ypsi just isn't safe in itself, but deciding to build where they did was a mistake. Next to one of the most dangerous dams you can build (if you fall in, you're dead...), directly across from a laundry mat where a woman was raped and robbed, less than a mile away from where someone was murdered...which is the same location of a drug bust, and not to mention the things that happen at the apartment complex!!! Vomit, feces, food, trash, drug dealings, keying of cars amoungst other property damage, physical assaults....the list goes on.
4. The staff, particularly the higher levels in the leasing office, are lying/manipulative/ignorant people that have not a clue what is going on. You basically have to write any sort of report at least 5 times before anyone looks at it. Even the staff under them complain about how awful of a working environment it is. Don't expect them to be on time for work in the morning either...I would recommend going in at 1 because they're so late it runs into their lunch hour...and how could anyone work during lunch''' It's a joke. At least the students that work there are nice...it's the only thing that keeps me sane in that office. Otherwise its complete chaos...And trust me, this is NOT an exageration...I deal with them at least once a week...
5. The apartments are new, but build poorly. Due to the settling...especially near the river, the walls are cracking because of a poor foundation. The windows are thin, the walls are thin, everything is cheap, the furniture isn't that great, the carpet is ugly and gray and very difficult to warm up...it just sucks...
Alright, for some positive...you get a small gym facility, a theater, movie rentals, washer and dryer in the unit, free internet and cable, and the apartments are furnished...
Hopefully this offers some guidence....
