The people who have previously posted are completely clueless on how the real world works.

Peninsular is by far the best student housing community in Ypsilanti. I have lived here for a while and I feel it's the best choice I could have made for myself.

The people who complain about cost are completely ridiculous. You get a fully furnished apartment, cable, Internet, and amenities and you are complaining about the cost' Have you not realized that Michigan's economy SUCKS and the cost of living is naturally HIGHER'

As for things not working in the apartment, I have found by living here that it's usually USER error when things break! Don't be completely drunk and cooking at 2am and maybe you won't burn your dinner. Or how about actually having to clean some dishes... sorry mommy isn't here to clean your room and do your laundry anymore for you.

The staff has been nothing but nice and accommodating to me since I have been here. I have paid my rent on time, therefore I haven't gotten any eviction letters, which by the way are required BY LAW if you haven't paid by a specific date.

People who got slapped with outrageous fines for having animals deserved every penny of it. They go over the pet policy in detail in the lease agreement. Do you think that just because you pick up after your animal and take care of it, that every other person who owns an animal does as well'!'! Don't worry about those people who have animals. They are getting slapped with the same fines you are for violating the rules!

I have never felt that I wasn't safe here. Of course Ypsilanti isn't the nicest city itself, but I feel that Peninsular has done it's best to help keep the property safe. They have a security officer who patrols EVERYNIGHT and then they have two on the weekends! Where else are you going to find that in YPSI'

As far as noise is concerned, you are always going to have an issue with that when you are living in a student-based community. I have dealt with it for two years, and have just come to realize that most of the time you can't escape it. This is a college town! There are always going to be those people who finally leave home and go to college just to party. Go to the library if you have problem studying. At least you have a for sure place of peace.

I encourage you to go live down the street (where the rent is really really cheap) and then let all of us know how you feel about it. I am sure that you will have no problem finding a place that has brand new stainless steal appliances, absolutely NO noise, where you can violate the rules by having pets, all for under $400 in a college town! Good Luck! I am sticking with Peninsular!

This is clearly written by someone who works there...NOT LIVES THERE. Who just knows that everyone is getting slapped with the same fines for having a pet. Who just knows that there are 2 security officers who waste gas by riding around on the weekend and only one during the week. These are details that no one really pays attention to. I don't even live there but several of my friends do. And the majority of the reviews I have read seem like the same situations. As far as the rent and the pricing, yeah it is understandable for all new appliances and being furnished. But the willingness of the staff to work something out is just ridiculous. How do you know that this person isnt going through financial problems that just hit them and they dont have mommy or daddy, or drug dealing boyfriend to bail them out. People go through things and I think the staff should be a little more understanding.....things happen. Everytime I go over there someone is having a party. Yeah the police come and break it up, but what happens after that, it just moves to another friends apartment within the same complex. So there is constant noise at all times of the night. And no background checks is crazy, yeah this is a college town but half the college students are just a dangerous as all the other people out there too. Just take in consideration all the crimes that have occured in the last 2 years in that area?!? Security and parking are a big joke, enough said. Its horrible that your car will be towed within a 20 min. visit. It seems to me that they worry more about parking than your actual safety. And I tried to make some cookies with my girlfriends and what do you know, they burnt. User error my butt, the appliances may be new but that has nothing to do with the quality of it. If the crap is cheap its cheap and this has nothing to do with the user. You can buy tons of pretty cheap stuff! But I think you get what you pay for, and considering the price of rent, I wouldn't bring my money here. I'll take my chances down the street, where its more quiet, the rent is cheaper, I'll use my own appliances that I know work, sleep on my own mattress that is stain free, and rest comfortably because I know my door fits in correctly. And why should someone leave their own apartment and go to the library just to study. They pay the same monthly rent just like everybody else, cause I know of several apartments that dont tolerate noise. Seems like management should tap into another area of their job instead of keeping that hand out! And be careful when considering signing a lease with them. They got my friend and he never stayed there but he was considering it and now they say that he owes the the first month for rent. Even though he called and told one of the women in the office to not hold his spot because he was no longer interested. He owes them but he never had a key, or even had a box to move anything in! But yeah, I will take my chances elsewhwere. It may seem like a great deal at first but take your time when looking, because there are better deals right around the corner. Remember I'm not even a resident and I wouldnt stay here and most of my friends aren't staying here next year.
