I've lived in Ridgewood for two years and will be moving out this summer. In the past two years:

I spent 6 weeks in the dead of winter with no heat because maintenance failed to fix it properly multiple times. When my heat was working, my bill averaged $200 month. I have air conditioning, but I can't afford to run it since heating the place ate up all my savings. Even if I could, it doesn't work very well. The phone company has been out three times to fix faulty wiring (on the plus side, the complex did pay those bills for me).

Oh, and this is fun: For the past few months, there have been BIRDS getting stuck in my air ducts. While my cats find it entertaining, the birds eventually die in there and the smell is horrific.

I've regularly encountered my neighbors using drugs on the porches. There are broken down cars all over the parking lots, and loud "parties" outside in the evenings.

The office staff has undergone a major changeover since I first leased my apartment. I was originally very happy with the staff, but since the change, there are new faces every time I go in. I feel like they have no idea who I am, and I really hate that since the last two places I lived knew me by name within a few months. The manager is very cocky.

There is one maintenance man who is knowledgable, polite, and friendly. I am a single woman living along, and frankly, the rest creep me out. I have friends come over when maintenance needs to come by so that I'm not alone in my apartment with them.

To summarize: Move along. This isn't the place you want.
