I have lived at River's Edge (north), previously Eastern Village for about 3 years. It hasnt been horrible, but I have to say I am quite eager to move on. It is close to campus and inexpensive which has been convienent for me during my stay. The new staff is a little more helpful and professional compared to the managment that used to run it. The building that I live in is kept up pretty well, is clean and looks nice from the outside because the model apt. is in this building and this is the building they show prospective tenants. However, I have friends in other buildings and this is not the case. The hallways are disgusting, they are littered with trash and dirt and smell horrible. The apartments are nicely sized but old. I am not sure about the other apartments, but I know my apt. and others that I have seen are not kept up as well as they should be. Some of the apartments in my building have been completely re-done though due to a fire a couple of years ago. There is a problem with the heating in my apt., so much so that there was ice on the inside of my windows this winter, I had maintanance out several times, and nothing was ever solved. I am a little nervous sometimes, living by myself, as it is not the safest area. It can also be loud at times, and there is often times a lot of commotion in the parking lots at night. For the price its not bad, and it seems to be getting better, if they just put a little more work into keeping the buildings cleaner and made the apartments a bit nicer I think it wouldnt be a half bad place to live.
