River's Edge is Under New Management. The ONLY good thing about the apartment is that it is close to campus. The maintenance is horrible; not only does so called 24 hour emergency maintenance not answer pages, but regular maintenance takes days to come to fix the problem and doesn t actually fix anything. You have to call several times and go in to the leasing office just to get the simplest things.
The management bought two additional apartment complexes directly across from River s Edge, however they did not keep the staff that was there so the manager works on all three of the properties and they are definitely understaffed with office employees and maintenance. The employees have serious communication issues with the renters as well as amongst themselves. I have even received an eviction notice on the 3rd of the month when rent was due on the first and I d already paid it in full and on time. They have even screwed several people over on their security deposits from what I have been told.
Someone was shot on the premises in the beginning of the month of January 2008.
The cost of the on- site washers and dryers has been going up by a quarter at least once a year. They are changing the thermostats in the apartments so the heat wont go higher than 75 degrees even in the winter and the window are not even insulated. F.Y.I.

I totally agree with everything you've said here, and would like to add that when I attempted to contact Midwest Mgmt. (Who own River's Edge) they did not reply. That was months ago. I've lived here since April '06, and its only gone downhill in that time. You might as well live by Ford Lake and save yourself over $100 in rent.

Yup yup, I agree with you. I'm a longtime resident here (been here since 2004), and I will be letting this lease run out. They STILL haven't fixed the broken lock plate on that door. Security has now become a huge problem. I was just woken up this morning at 1am to a mob of shouting and screaming outside my window, followed by the arrival of the police. I still have no idea what happened, but have spent the last couple of hours searching for a new place to call home. I, too, have received an eviction notice on the 2nd for non-payment of rent even though I'd paid it earlier that day. Why didn't I pay it on the 1st? Well, on that month, the 1st fell on a Sunday. At that time, they were not open on Sundays. Anyway, good review. If anyone knows what went down here in the complex this morning, please post it. Thanks.

The heat won't go higher than 75 degrees? WTH? Do your parents have the heat at 75 degrees at their house? Highly doubtful seeing as how they are paying for the heat and keeping it at 75 would make their heat bill ridiculously high. Maybe once you pay for a heat bill of a couple thousand dollars to heat a building that size, you'll understand the cost of a buck. BTW, Ypsilanti ordinance states that landlords only have to keep heat at 68 degrees in the winter, so be thankful for that 75.
