Clarification for everyone...

Yes, I am from the office and I would love to clarify a few things here. These so called eviction notices on the 1st day of the month are not eviction notices. You can look at your lease, which clearly states that rent is due on the 1st day of every month. On the 2nd of the month, rent is late, regardless of a late fee being posted or not. The notice you get is a 7 day demand for rent. This means you have seven days to pay or we are going to file in court to evict you. This serves as a reminder for a lot of people and we have actually gotten thank you's for sending them out because they would have forgotten to pay. The wording on the notice is harsh because it's legal lingo that has to be used. We include a nicer letter to kind of explain that you have 7 days to pay or we will take you to court. I hope this clears that issue up. We are not out to "get" anybody. I would love to help answer questions you have. Please reply if I can answer anything else for you. It saddens me that people would rather say all of these things on a website that has no validity or morals instead of resolve them with us directly.

Yes, and it saddens us that you would rather jump to legal threats at the first opportunity before making a simple phone call. However, you are well within your legal right to do so. I would point out, however, that in order to serve legal documents legally, you must send them certified through the postal service. Stuffing notices into door jambs won't stand up in a court of law, and is also a violation of privacy.
Has that front door lock been repaired, yet, by the way?

And I would ALSO like to point out that the entire office personnel has been overhauled oh... I've lost count, perhaps SIX TIMES since moving in a year and a half ago. Before accusing your tenants of running to a 'website with no validity' to lodge their complaints, you might want to consider the fact that the renters posting on this website have, on several occasions, gone to various stages of management with these issues. Only six months ago I was being avoided and hung up on by members of management over these same issues. If you weren't part of that management team, then its obviously not your problem, but the fact still remains that communication between staff is practically nonexistent due to the high staff turnover. Personally, everything I've attempted to resolve in the last year has been a big waste of my time and energy. I've called the office plenty. Hell-- I've even attempted to contact the slumlord company that's stamped on the back of rent checks before deposit. We watch each level of management come in, make things an even bigger mess, and then leave. Its ridiculous. We've received two notices about renewing our lease in the last two weeks that have totally different amounts of them. I'm not even talking about the deals you're offering for renewing early-- you just straight up can't even figure out how much our rent is now or would be in the future. Its just total incompetence-- and that was my first and only communication from management on your watch. So please forgive me for not running over the second your office is unpacked to tell you about the water damage we've had since JULY and how our carpet was never cleaned. Or about how our halls and parking lot are filled with garbage. Or how the front door lock is broken. I'm assuming that you have eyes and can see these things yourself.

On behalf of the the "old" staff and the current staff I would just like to apologized for the problems that both of you have experienced. Obviously every community is going to have problems and the only way to start to fix these problems is to open the lines of communication. To the resident with the water damage, I would like to speak with you directly and see if we can correct the problem that is making you unhappy. Please call the office (734)487-5750 and ask to speak to Josh, I will do everything in my power (and within reason) to make you guys happy and fix the problems you are having. As to the first response about the door lock, please let me know what building it is on and I will personally go with a maitenance technician and see that it gets fixed. If you have any problems in the future, give me a call at that number. To all residents reading this, I do care about the problems you are having in your apartments. I want you all to be happy where you live. I know management has changed several times and it's frustrating telling a new person about your problems that the last people left. I will be understanding with you and ask that you are with us and we can fix these issues in a civilized manner. Thanks for your time!

Reading this exchange, I can see that perhaps personal blame cannot be put onto anyone except for the management. That's how the game works. The management company comes in, the employees, (probably poorly paid) take the brunt of backlash from the angry and justifiably angry tenants all because of a small minority of people who for their reasons try to renege on their end of the contract. This is a university living area and just look at the condition of the university man. My advice is, take it as a lesson learned and move to Ann Arbor asap. Good luck people.
