I live here right now and I'm trying to move!

I decided that I would offer my 2 cents about my current abode. First let me say that I only moved to these apartments because I was DESPARATE. Parking is horrible. You can almost never find a spot close to the building and non-handicapped people/cars park in handicapped parking ALL THE TIME (the only close parking spots). Even though animals are not allowed, I swear the person/people above me have a cat or dog that is always RUNNING around...and on 2/2/08 about 10:30 PM, I saw a guy walk a puppy dog (on a leash)out of the building (and a few minutes later) walk the dog back into the building. On January 26, 2008 at 7:45 PM, I saw a lady walk a dog out of the building, let him do his thing and then walked him back into the building.(I even tried to take a picture of her AND the dog, but it's a really dark blurry pic) The grounds are kept up reasonably O.K., snow removal is actually very good, but repairs (though quickly done) are cosmetic...they don't really fix the problem...they just cover them up. And they have more inspections than the law should allow...seems like 4 or 5 already and I've only been here 17 months. The outside parking area street-lights work sometimes and sometimes not when I leave (before daylight) in the morning for work and non-resident people are ALWAYS waiting near entrance doors for you to enter so they can "sneak" in. My first year I was here, the police seemed to be in the parking lot EVERY Saturday night (Late) when I would return home. I can honestly say I have not seen the police in the last 3 months whereas I used to see them every week! In the summertime or anytime warm, groups of 3-8 people and there could be 3, 4 or 5 groups at a time, tend to HANG outside in different areas of the parking lot (or even under some of the trees), not doing anything bad, just hanging (but sometimes drinking beer). There are no balconies, no real places for outdoor barbeques, etc...so they hang in the parking lots and under the unleased car ports. And now to the apartment itself. Actually, the apartment itself is O.K...there is a good amount of square footage (and I got a 1 BR)and I have no major complaints EXCEPT for the heating/drafts. The heat is free, but you get no heat until November. I almost went and bought a heater for those COLD October nights. The windows are so drafty that they "whistle" loudly in winds above 35 MPH. Walls are thin (you WILL hear your neighbors AND what they say) and the pipes let you know any time a neighbor showers or flushes...other than that the apartment is O.K...so on a scale from 0 to 100, I'd give the "Manor" a 68 or a D ...not good enough for average, but still passing (and not failing). If it were not for the caring staff, I'd rate the place a failure...
