Meh...really not all that bad!

My lease is a few days away from ending, and I'm moving out of Schooner Cove. I did have some problems here, but in the long run, it really isn't that bad of an apartment building. I'd probably recommend it to most people.

The apartments are far bigger than other ones with the same price, the lake is beautiful, and there's tons of closet space in each apartment. The apartments are kept up fairly well (ours was a little dirty when we moved in, but besides that, no other big problems).

As far as safety, yes, there was a shooting in the parking lot outside my building, so therefore, I wouldn't say that Schooner Cove is horribly safe. However, besdies that incident, I have always felt safe at my apartment, which may mean I'm delusional, but regardless, I felt fine. Most of the people I see living here are 30 somethings, have children, and are simply looking to get to sleep tonight as opposed to selling marijuana or robbing someone.

However, I can't speak for the low-income housing site that is right down the street from Schooner Cove. I see cops posted there quite often, which, needless to say, makes me nervous.

Parking late at night can also be a bear. I've never had to park ridiculously far away, but it can be very annoying depending on the weather.

My roommate and I have both had problems with the staff. I wouldn't say it stems from them being rude; I would say it stems more from them being inept or unmindful. They've occasionally lost things, entered things in incorrectly, and suffered from "oh-well-that's-a-new-person"itis for quite a while. However there are about two people at the office who know exactly what they're doing and how to solve problems, so they can usually sort things out pretty fast - but it still can be very annoying.

Overall, Schooner Cove is a great apartment complex for the price. If you want somewhere spacious and cheap, this would probably satisfy you.
