So far I like it

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
I have lived in Schooner Cove for just over a month. After 2 years in another local apartment complex, it's been a nice change. We have the 2 bedroom 950 sq. ft. apartment and while it's the same size as our previous place, this one feels so much more spacious. The screened in porch is a really nice feature, and we have more than enough closet space. I'm a student at EMU and there is a wide variety of people here; students, lots of families, slightly older couples. Also, it's very quiet. I almost never hear my neighbors except for when they're in the hallway. I also occasionally hear their dogs bark but that doesn't bother me since I have one of my own. I like the area too. It's only 10 minutes from EMU. The office staff is very friendly and it's nice to be recognized by name and face, they never knew who I was even after 2 years at my last apartment. The only negative I have seen here so far is that I feel like I have to be on guard and completely aware of my surroundings at all times when I walk my dog. I am young female and I have to say that I never go for walks after dark, and my experience is running into a lot of shady people around the complex. I am not some super attractive girl, but I almost always get cars of men hollering out the window at me, or men out on their porches making comments or approaching me. It limits the routes I decide to walk each evening. I never feel entirely safe when I'm walking around alone. I wish I could walk through the trail along the lake but that's something I will never tackle by myself. It's got a nice view though, my boyfriend and I walked through there once. Other than that, I love the apartments here and am looking forward to enjoying the duration of my lease here.
