Worst apartment I've ever had!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 11/8/2005
Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2005
And I've lived in a few over the years. Been here a few months, and already I know I'm not renewing my lease.
Let's see... where to start.
* Touring the community, I had a new person (4 days on the job) who told me all kinds of crap that wasn't true (there'd be a microwave in the unit, utilities were paid for, etc. etc. etc.), stuff that influenced me to choose this place over others. I'm no newbie at apartment renting, but even I assumed that, structurally (i.e. wall quality, door quality, carpet quality, etc.), the apartment would be similar to the model. Not so at this community. I was told "oops, I was wrong, I'm new and didn't know any better, sorry" when I questioned what I was told. Hello'' Training''
* I waited a good hour before I got my key on move-in day. (Not a good thing in August after driving three hours to get here with a moving truck on my tail) They were "sprucing up the place." (Mgmt's quote, not mine) Coulda fooled me. The carpets were stained and paint spattered, sliding doors didn't work, loose outlets, giant water stain on the wall, poorly painted walls, etc. etc. etc. Oh yeah, did I mention the stained carpet'
* Two water leaks (both from upstairs) and three different attempts to clean the carpet later, the water stain is gone, I bought plenty of rugs, and I'm still leaving.
* You can't use the one washer & dryer in the building... they seem to always be in use. Luckily there's a laundromat down the street that charges a little more per load. :-(
* Dog owners do not pick up after their pets... you can't walk in the "rolling wooded terrain" without stepping in some dog doo somewhere. And a leash' What's that'
* ONE HOT WATER HEATER FOR A 12 UNIT APARTMENT BUILDING. I'll say it again. ONE HOT WATER HEATER FOR... well, you get the picture. Admittedly it is a very big water heater, but all the same, don't expect to enjoy your morning shower.
* Oh and you pay for water, sewer & trash. I don't know if that's standard in MI, but I guess the 6-8 people living in the 2 bedroom apartment next door make dividing up the bill a little nicer. Or wait... are there SUPPOSED to be that many people there'
* I will admit that the parking is nice... good deals on the carports. The parking lots on the other hand are pretty rough on the car. And they were just repaved!
I could go on and on... but I'll just summarize... don't make the same mistake I did. Don't rent here. There have got to be plenty of other places better than this one.
