Avalon at Devonshire
< | >
I have lived here at Devonshire for just under a year now. We have had a lot of problems with our apartment since we moved in. Some of the staff and maintenance people were awesome, and the others were just crap. It was hit or miss for sure. I have gotten into the habit of hanging up the phone or saying it is a wrong number when the unhelpful people answer the phones in the main office. And some of the maintenance people just did a half ass job fixing things that were broken.
Another complaint is that the neighbors although not that loud seem so loud because the walls/floors are so thin. I can hear almost everything that goes on in my neighbors apartment (below me). I know when they are watching a movie and what kind it is, I know when they have people over, I hear them talking and laughing when they don't.
The other tennants seem to be quite stand-off-ish and don't want to know their neighbors, never say hello and are just unfriendly.
I will not be renewign my lease when it is up and will be looking for a new place to live. I would not reccomend this place to anyone.

I think that you have made an excellent choice , when you state; "I will not be renewign my lease when it is up and will be looking for a new place to live". The walls here are really thin, and when people complain, they take their concern to the office; which jepordizes you housing, instead of simply knocking on your door. Although this has happen to me, among several other issues, I would never consider jepordizing any one's place of residence, expecially those with small children; if it could be helped. I agree staffing here is simply crappy, snobbish, and plain ole bias. Good luck in your move, I will be moving very soon myself, by choice that is; unless...as stated...one more complain of noice. (Thin wall, and two little one's.) No one wants to disturb any one peace expecially not I. So I do my best at keeping the noice down.. however; When I moved here, I didnt have my two kids hiding away in boxes. Devonshire was fully aware of my precious small one's.

Can you help me letting me know more about this community? I have just moved from CA and started working in Bloomington and due to Minnesota winter weather I wish to move closer to my work. Devonshire is just 5 minutes from my work and I went couple of times to see the different apartment???s there- I was told totally different rent every time and yesterday I went to take another look because I almost decided to move in there. I noticed dryer in the unit was rusted inside and kitchen closets wallpapers were ripped off and I told the lady to get it fixed and she did not give me any convincing answer. First time she told me that application fee is waived off and then she said no it is not because it is applicable on your first visit. She commented ???Aren???t you going to complain about this beautiful place ???? This was so rude. I am still thinking about that place but let me know more about it. I just do not want to get stuck in a pit for 12 month. Thanks
