Not the best, but not the worst

I lived here for almost 2 years. The apartment was nice. It was clean when we moved in, the appliances are updated, and everything worked. I had a few minor things wrong throughout the 2 years and they were fixed almost immediately.
However, the hallways and other public areas were not so nice. There were always people leaving their crap by the elevators. Sorry, this is not a good will. There was garbage in one of the dryers. The carpet and walls are marked up and stained. The people who were supposed to clean the common areas rarely did and when they did, they talked on their cell phones extra loud and even breastfed their babies on the floor, in the hall. As some of the other people have said - yes there is water leaking in the garage. I HATED when they had "water shut offs" for no reason; sometimes they did it without notice and when I woke up to go to work, there was no water. My boss was real happy about that.
One of the months, my bank bounced my rent check when I had plenty of money in there. I went to my bank and had my banker print off records that it was their fault and gave me her card so I can show this to the management. I showed it to them and they said ok, but I still had to pay a fee for the check bouncing and I had to pay with a money order for 6 months!!!!! I asked them if they called my banker to verify what happened and he said they "tried but no one ever answered." Bull crap.
Also, I thought rent had to be in by 10 am and it was really 9 am. They made me pay a $50 late fee.
They also only gave me back a third of the $300 deposit because there was supposedly "8 hours of cleaning that had to be done," which was completely ridiculous.
I liked the pools and workout areas. I also liked the fact that it was right by the shopping area with Lunds and such.
When I first moved in, my rent was $725. When I signed my second lease, it moved up to $750 and if I were to sign a 3rd year, it would have gone to $780. Absolutely ridiculous price for just an OK place. This was a 1 bedroom.
If you absolutely need an apt here, this complex isn't the worst, but if it's possible - find another place!!
Overall - too expensive for the underkept complex - they also try to aqueeze as much $$ out of you as possible!!

If you're renting month-month, beware of the automatic renewal clause that states your lease cannot end November thru January. Know your rights! The landlord is required to give the renter written notice.
