River Dump Apartments is a bit more accurate

These apartments are listed as having newer appliances, etc. I want to be honest here so I'm going to tell you that I originally moved in to River Glen in order to build up some good rental history as I had made some mistakes in the past. Because I have lived in decent apartments before, I knew these were a dump. I settled but here's the tripper. I moved from a two bedroom to a three bedroom not bothering to look at the three bedroom. I was told that the current tenants worked at night and that they didn't want me there during the day. The Manager, Carol McMahon, only works during the day. There are no early evening or weekend management hours. Well, I trusted her. WRONG decision. I moved into the three bedroom and NOTHING except the refrigerator was cleaned. The carpeting was threadbare, heavily stained and STUNK. All appliances are extremely old, chipped, scratched, etc. My air conditioner didn't work and was filthy. The refrigerator gasket was bent, causing floods of water every 5 to 6 hours and food to spoil, the stove controls were so caked with grease and grime, that I never even bothered to use them. The sprayer on the sink had a crack in it and sprayed water across the room whenever you turned the sink on. The cabinets underneath the sink had yellow, crusty patches all over and stunk of urine, my cat's nightly hunting throughout the apartment rendered quite the booty of dead mice. This is what caused the reeking stains in the cabinets. The bathtub was stained black in some places. The back of the toilet was filthy and stained with urine. Some of the bathroom tiles were missing and the floor underneath was "squishy" when you walked on the bathroom floor. Hmmm, could that be rotting wood Carol' It gets better. The smell coming up from the master bedroom was disgusting, there are huge patches of carpet missing and replaced with new patches. You have this mishmash of differently aged carpet, instead of just replacing it. The cabinets in the kitchen, in all kitches I have seen in this complex, are drooping and have been renailed and renailed and renailed. When I complained, I recieved no response. I put in my notice saying we could not live in such conditions upon which I received a letter saying I had caused extensive damage to the apartment below. $1300 dollars worth of damage. Most of it was bogus and of the remaining complaints, most were normal wear and tear. Carol refused to fix any of the things in my "new" apartment except the refrigerator. A new gasket was put on but was also bent, thus the fridge was still inoperable. She never has offered to reimburse me for the loss of food nor for the cost of feeding a family of four having to eat out for a month. The managers name is Gary Brummer. He also owns Plymouth Oaks, look at the horrible reviews for that complex and you will understand that this is a man making money off people less unfortunate. These people thrive on lies, deceit and outright bullying behavior. Police calls to this complex are high. There is drug dealing in the parking lots, drinking is allowed at the pool, etc. When I had one tenant repeatedly making sexual comments to me, Carol told me it was up to me to tell him to stop and would not speak to him about the situation. Isn't that why they call it sexual intimidation' Because it makes a person intimidated' Don't move here. The rent is extremely low but you truly get what you pay for in this complex.
