I live in this Ridgebrook place for all of four months. After multiple threats directed toward me, my wife and my dog, we gathered together the buyout fee and high tailed it out of there. The final straw was when some threatened "...I'll shoot your f****** dog if you don't pick up his sh**..." which was while we were in the 'dog run' ( which is a lovely fenced in corner filled with piss soaked wood chips). After reporting this to management, they suggested we should buy a gun. Yes, management suggested we should buy a GUN to be safe in our home. I am sure the Brooklyn Park PD would love to hear that they want everyone to have a gun who lives there, especially when a single officer will not enter the property without backup...and I can't say I blame them. In addition, the paint peeled from the wall, the crappy ceramic tiles in the bathroom stuck to my feet and came up from the floor, there was a patio door that lead to a 20 foot drop, the walls leaked around the AC, we had a giant hole in the ceiling in our bathroom (that we told management about numerous times, apparently you have to send complaints via certified mail or they don't "receive" them) two people were murdered in their car next to the dumpster in the parking lot and after one whole week living there, someone was murdered across the street (shot in the head in a drug deal gone bad). So anyone looking for an apartment should probably not rent here, unless you enjoy multiple murders. We still haven't received our deposit back, but they did estimate it would take 8, yes 8 hours to clean after we spent one week doing nothing but cleaning. Had I known that we wouldn't get a deposit back, I just may have done things that would take them 88 hours to clean. Parking lot is ridiculous, our 'neighbors' blared loud crap music all day every day, kids ran around all day unwatched by their wonderful parents. In our building there was four whole washers and four whole dryers for the entire building (about60 units).

This person is a liar. I checked with the police department. No one could remember a double murder especially in the last 4 months as this author seems to claim. And the police say no murders have occurred in the neighborhood in this time either. (Remember this person claims 3, the police claim 0.) In the 6 years we have lived here there has not been a single murder let alone a double murder. Yes there was a notorious complex nearby known for assaults and drugs. The city tore that down. Now new townhouses and condos are springing up and the neighborhood is cleaning itself up.
Yes children are a problem. The Liberians in the building seem oblivious to safety and small toddlers run into traffic. It is so funny because this is a pet friendly complex and you have Liberians that are not only afraid of all dogs but are forbidden from touching one. WHY ARE THEY LIVING HERE???? They are quite humorous scowling at dog owners who pay extra for the benefit of tormenting them.
I have to suspect that this person was one recently thrown out of their apartment. Kudos to management for keeping out the riff-raff.
Oh and the threats in the dog run are an absolute lie as well. We take our dog out 4-5 times a day to the same dog run. The city law requires cleaning up after your pets. This author obviously had a problem with following the law and the rules. BUT NO ONE HERE HAS THREATENED ANYONE ELSE WITH DEATH FOR NOT CLEANING UP! GIVE ME A BREAK!!! The pet owners are very respectful of one another.

Police don't disclose any open investigations to the public. There are others ways of getting this information, but I doubt the above responder bother to even look, as they are probably Staff at the complex.
I've never heard of any murders happening on property. I did witness the Police capturing a man on a motorcycle who drove through the complex main area at high speed. I witnessed a tenant's garage being ransacked by the police in a raid. I've seen the police come through various times for domestic disputes, but never murders. I've seen the meat wagon roll through across the street a couple times, but I heard that was due to some elderly tenant who passed away.
The neighborhood really did clean up thanks to the condo's that went up all around Ridgebrook. That doesn't change the quality of the staff, the other tenants, or their children.
I would have reported the incident with the threat to your dog's life to the police. That is a serious threat, and should be treated as such.
Why even bother comparing Brooklyn Park to Maple Grove. It's a completely different world.

Just in response, I did report the incident to the police, they said they would investigate, but because it came from the complex, we weren't sure which window and the fact that there was noone to corroborate our story, nothing would probably come of it, but to still call again if a similar threat happened. The reason I compared BP to MG is because we moved to Maple Grove (which we would have done originally, but the apartment we moved to just changed their pet policy to allow our dog). Regardless of which city I compare anything to, I do not find it appropriate for management of any complex to encourage their tenants to purchase a firearm to be safe in their unit.

After reading this review I would like to provide perspective to what this former resident has written.
It has always been and continues to be our goal to provide excellent customer service. Our staff is trained and professional at all times. We are sorry these residents??? did not have a pleasant experience at our community. There are a few facts that this resident stated that are completely unfounded and deserve clarification. No murders have been committed on our property. As a volunteer police officer with the city of Brooklyn Park, I can verify my statement. Additionally, there is a police officer assigned to our community who can provide unbiased statements of fact regarding the number of calls our community receives regularly. The residents received an accounting of their deposit and refund check within the time frame allowable by Minnesota state statute. Our community has been recognized by the Mayor of Brooklyn Park for our beautiful grounds, our excellent staff and our dedication to customer service. Please take a moment to check us out.

You're still supposed to clean up after your pet in the dog run area. If you weren't, you should have. Many canine diseases are spread through the complex because of people not picking up after their animals, and other animals getting too close/stepping in it. It was probably crazy german shepard lady -- I think she lived on that side for while.
