Although mold affects individuals differently and to different degrees, the following are some of the most common adverse health effects.
Respiratory problems---wheezing, difficulty in breathing
Nasal and sinus congestion
Eyes-burning, watery, reddened, blurry vision, light sensitivity
Dry, hacking cough
Sore throat
Nose and throat irritation
Shortness of breath and lung disease
Chronic fatigue
Skin irritation
Central nervous system problems (constant headaches, loss of memory, and mood changes)
Aches and pains
Fever
Headaches
Diarrhea
Immune suppression
Research on Toxic Mold
There has been quite a lot of literature detailing specific case studies of mold contaminating homes and other structures. However, there has been relatively little work on the specific conditions and surroundings that allowed this growth. Beginning in the early ?90s, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began to study material properties, temperatures, and ecological niches that allowed fungi and mold to thrive, expand, and then eventually die. One of the results discovered was that humidity played a very indirect role to the growth of mold. However, small amounts of moisture can foster the development of certain mold cultures. Other types of mold require much greater levels of moisture. The fairly toxic species, S. atra, needs a lot of moisture and lots of materials that contain cellulose in order to foster growth.
Recent studies and cases have revealed greater rates of poisonous fungal species in poorly maintained offices/homes with water damage or moisture problems. While only a small number of molds and fungi are considered toxic and allergenic, species such as Stachybotrys atra (S. atra) have been directly linked to numerous cases of hemorrhagic lung disease in infants.
This place is completely infested, from the apartments to the storage to every baseboard in the buildings.
Think Twice
P.S. The GOOD reviews posted on this site are most likely the management, I have not talked to ONE neighbor who is happy or plans to renew their lease :o) aLKeoXpj3s4OSgrp1trb

Actually I escaped here from a much bigger sh*thole AKA Willowpond. Anyways Burningham's not that bad management's been very flexiable and understanding with most of my concerns. I did have one mold problem by my bed, it sucked but they cleaned it up immeadiatly. Considering how cheap it is, yeah it's a little dumpy but most of my problems were delt with well. The only complaint I have is the bathroom vents, if you're not a smoker you'll want to make sure you're not above one or it well seep into your apt. also the AC kind of blows. But really it's not that bad. My last apt. WP was an unsurvivable stay in hell. Cars were robbed every month, people puked and pi*sed in the halls and elevators, very young children ran up and down the halls screaming day and night, the water was shut off for hours every day. Thank God none of that's happened here. Although I will admit there were some issues with loud music too but management did take care of that. So, it's not that bad here, and it seems to be a favorite for younger people that appear to have come from decent homes. |

I've had the same problems: mold, smoking coming through vents, poor air systems (both heat & AC), loud music; but they must be selective about which apts they fix, because in my entire year here, mgmt has never, yes, NEVER fixed a single thing for me. It's truly been a horrible experience living here. I don't sleep because of the noise, I live on second hand smoke and mold every day. I've made multiple requests to have things fixed, but never a response!
