Good for short stay

The good ?? for six month leases the apartment gives you coupons worth about $45 a month off your monthly rent and also half off the last months rent. The grounds are well maintained. The area is safe and located within walking distance (2-3 blocks) of Anoka Ramsey Community College, Walgreens Drug store, McDonalds, Dairy Queen, Big Lots (like Wal-Mart), Firestone Auto Center, and a new Goodwill store. The parking lot could use some better lighting. The complex give ample notice for snow plowing. The complex is older but the owners seem to have replaced almost everything in my apartment such as appliances, light fixtures, ceiling fans, carpeting, vinyl floors, vanities and toilets. The walls are where well painted and the tiles in the bathroom where new. There is a full time manager who is not a resident of the complex. She is nice and does a good job but is not as attentive as she could be when it comes to the jerks that make life bad for others. From the few maintained request I had I would rate the maintenance staff as very timely. They seem to use outside contractors for anything major like carpeting, painting, lawn care. If a light is burnt out in the hallway it is replaced within one day as an example. Each apartment building has four washer and dryers that are well maintained.

The Bad ?? I had neighbors that where fairly quiet most of the time. But when they weren??t quiet they where very loud. Some example where playing music way to loud so that it vibrated the walls. Slamming their doors shut. Banging things around and running and jumping in their apartments so that it shook my floor. They weren??t little kids and even if they where they shouldn??t be allowed by their parents to jump and run in the apartment. The walls don??t seem to have any sound proofing between in the wall cavities. Which lets noise through if people are louder than they should be. You can??t hear normal speech or a normal TV playing. But if people are yelling you can easily hear them. The floor joists and floor sheathing are also letting their age be known. My floors squeaked everywhere I walked. As for manager. She seems to think that people slamming their doors shut verses closing them is a part of normal apartment life. The definition of slam is, ??to close something forcefully and noisily??. So why do people who live in apartments have to slam their doors shut' Are apartment doors defective and thus won??t close unless they are SLAMED SHUT' It doesn??t seem that she takes some tenants being jerks to other tenants very seriously and just chalks it up to ??that??s apartment life??. A bad tenant will cause other people to move, so why not get kid of the A-Hole instead' The hallways can be a little musty in the summer due to the doors being closed. There is no central air conditioning just a wall air conditioner in the living room. Which doesn??t help cool your bedroom on a hot summer night. Cable is not included in your rent which is a rip-off. The apartment complex could purchase cable for the residents in bulk cheaper than the resident s could purchase it individually. As for the rental price. Even though the building has been updated and well maintained. It was still built in 1970. I think the prices are over by $100. Of course apartments should just be used as temporary living arrangements until you can buy a house. Renting anything over a one bedroom is just about the same as a monthly mortgage payment. So you??re just throwing your money in the garbage if you rent. Don??t spend money on a new car and then live in an apartment. Spend the money on a down payment for a house and have something 5 years latter that??s worth more than when you bought it!
