Cedars Isn't As Bad As Some of These Folks Are Saying

Okay - So I won't talk too much about the apartment complex, but since I read EVERY single one of the 58 responses, I'd like to try and put some of what I read in context:
It seems like some one(s) has an axe to grind, especially with the Cedars Ownership/Management. I am basing this on a couple things. First note that many of the negative reviews specifically mention how bad the ownership/management team is (one review even goes so far as to call them ditsy). But think about this for a second: how many tenants actually would KNOW SO MUCH about the management to insult them personally' Isn't it likely that these are just a few people posting repeatedly, just a thought. Another thought: if many tenants do indeed know the managers/owners that well, isn't that a good thing' Doesn't that mean they are more "around and available" than the negative posters giving them credit for. I am not going to say which is true, I am just pointing out logical observations here.
Also, these are pretty ACTIVE posters: please note that in addition to disparaging the owners, these people also have carefully REPLIED TO MANY OF THE POSITIVE reviews. Who even has the time to do that if it weren't personal'''
The fairest opinion is probably the one ironically titled "Fair Review" from 2/11/05 as they list the issues with the property without personally attacking management.
So I suspect that 90% of the negative postings are from some one(s) who either got fired or evicted from the place and readers should keep that in mind when they read.
In case you are wondering about me:
1) I am NOT on the payroll; never have been and never will be
2) Though I know some of the cast of characters involved, I am posting on my own volition
3) I DO NOT think the place is perfect, BUT given how honest the people I know are (sometimes a little TOO honest), I would expect the place to be closer to a 5 than a 1 by the time YOU are ready to move in
4) I just don't like bad logic cluttering these postings
Finally, to the person who called the owners/managers ditsy: just because they aren't ugly doesn't mean they are ditsy. While I agree with you in principle, as I myself am severely allergic to ditsy dumb people who just look good (I think all such people should be working at McDonald's), I COULDN'T AGREE WITH YOU LESS that these people are ditsy. I would really prefer it if you didn't say stuff like that...
Happy apartment hunting!

Belphagor ??? Not a problem, it was a good post and deserved to be highlighted for both prospective tenants AND Cedars Management so all can see (and react to) what the real deal is. I just have an issue with this one point that you made: "One thing I would point out- most of the negative responses have names, all of the cheerleader responses are -Anonymous-" Don't you think this is a tad bit pedantic or even misleading? Signing a post "smellycurry" or "ABC123" followed by "@yahoo.com" isn't exactly disclosing oneself (and one???s intentions), is it? I mean, is BelphagorAD anything even remotely close to your real name? And the reason I point this out is simply a matter of CONTEXT: if a prospective renter reads this post ONLY and sees your response, they may actually think that you had a good point and that would be giving credit where it is certainly NOT DUE...to the few negative posts that hit way below the belt. But if it makes you feel better, I will sign this response with my real name so that I will be fully known to prospectives and to Cedars people...JUST LIKE YOU DID. I'm not sure if you were calling me the cheerleader or not...but if you were...I have to say you are WRONG. As I read my post again, I can't even find where I said ONE good thing about the Cedars apartments themselves. Can you? And if I was a cheerleader, why in the world would I highlight your post? I only did so because I thought it represented the TRUTH which is all I am interested in (prospectives, please take a look at it: it???s dated 2/11/05 and it's really good). But, I will say AGAIN, for those who really want to rent an apartment in Edina, and require accurate information: 1) I read ALL of the responses before I made my post and tried to interpret them in CONTEXT 2) I am NOT on the payroll; never have been and never will be, I do not need the money and will never ever take a dime or a shilling out of the place 3) Though I know some of the cast of characters involved, I am posting on my own volition (as I am this second time) 4) I DO NOT think the place is perfect, BUT given how honest the people I know are (sometimes a little TOO honest), I would expect the place to be closer to a 5 than a 1 by the time YOU are ready to move in 5) I just don't (and still don't) like bad logic cluttering these postings . . . 6) (Most importantly) This is what happens when your brain is fried from constantly working into the wee hours of the morning...you surf the internet looking for past records of yourself and attempt to stay current with them. That's "Advanced-Level Timewasting Techniques for Workaholic Slackers" in case you want to buy the textbook. Cheers! Mr. "-Anonymous-", the Varsity Cheerleader =) |

Heya, Bel again. Just for the record, I wasn't naming you as the cheerleader, just making a overly general statement to most of the other responses. Also to point 6, You got back to that post not long after my response, pretty quick- this is my first visit since I posted last time. Anyway I'll agree that just because someone takes the time to make a fake login like cedarsblows, or ImaRacistsjerkoff etc- doesn't make their response any more credible. Your 5 points are sound and I completely agree with #1. I figured by now some of the 'happy posters' would have picked up on the trick of making a fake name like. Cedars=sunshine or Best..Place..Ever - fun stuff like that. Anyway- I'll check back in after 1-2 months and see what's new. Take care- Bel. Aww- it erased my prior response, meh, no loss. |

Bel - Not a problem. I understand your suspicion on Point #6; that my prompt response must mean I am an "insider." I would actually assume the same thing, but we would both be WRONG. But if you look at my Point #4 and in the text of my argument, I clearly state that I KNOW one of the insiders, so that is why I even look here at all. But that insider knows me well enough to know that I will call BS when and where I see it, regardless. So with that said, when you look at some of what the cheerleaders write, I do tend to think that they aren't all from "actual renters." I can't tell whether they are from insiders or not, but if they are: SHAME ON YOU CEDARS INSIDERS! Besides, it's quite unnecessary for them to be defensive about ANYTHING. I mean, at a 55% positive rating, they are doing pretty well. If you look at that figure in CONTEXT, which is my favorite way to look at things, any renter can plainly see that no big apartment complex with more than 50 responses comes EVEN CLOSE to a 55% approval rating. You can't please everybody; but it sends a positive signal that of the big places, Cedars is closest. So if there are insiders posting, it baffles me why they would consider this a good use of their paid time, but anyway. Great points Bel. Cheers! |
