I've lived in the pet building for less than a year. Due to a bedbug infestation in the other buildings they have had an influx of non pet owning people into this building. Most of these people are afraid of dogs. Why would management move people whose ------- is biased against dogs into the one of five buildings that accepts pets' Plus the hallways smells like curry, i love curry. I don't appreciate smelling like it all the time. x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk

Manager's Response

From: Manager Date: 09/25/2007
Dear Anonymous, First of all, Cedars of Edina does not and has never had a pest infestation in any of our buildings. As the property manager at Cedars of Edina, I take residents concerns about pest issues extremely serious. We work with a professional pest control company to help determine the most effective way to resolve pest problems. One of the most effective ways for us to resolve a pest issue is to have our residents notify us that there is a possible issue. Cedars of Edina follows the guidelines of fair housing. We do not limit a client's choice of apartments based on the fact that they do not have a pet. Any client choosing to live at our community is given a choice based on their criteria. Residents choosing to live in a building which may have pets is something they know at the time of renting. Recently, bedbugs have received national attention in the United States. They are increasingly being encountered in homes, apartments, hotels, dormitories, shelters, places of business and all modes of transprotation. At Cedars of Edina, we are taking every necessary step to prevent pest issues and to reolve them as quickly as possible if they do arise. Thank you, Angie Macias Property Manager

I live in the dog building and can honestly state that during the past month, have heard mice scurrying in the walls and have officially trapped and killed 7 of them. Although the management has been somewhat proactive, I would like to learn what my rights are when it comes to breaking a lease. I cannot live with rodents.

Why are residents responsible for treatment payment of bedbugs if it isn't an issue? That smells unfair and possible illegal.
