Overall a Wonderful Place

Myself, my fianc e, and our 2 year old son live there for a year and a half, and left there with a love for the place.

Where to begin....there are so many good things to say about that place (though, like everything in life, there are a few bad things to mention as well).

To start, the management there was very accommodating when it came to time. We contacted them, and a week and a half later we were moving in. The room was not supposed to be available until about a month later, but they really pushed the repairs and repainting and got us there in under 2 weeks. Also, given the apartment location and recently added upgrades, the rent was supposed to be $825, but after discussing our financial situation with them (and urgency to find a place), they lowered the price to $700.

One of the many things that I loved most about this complex was its size. Before deciding to move in, we were also considering another complex (Salem Green apartments are lakeside) positioned on the other side of the lake. That complex consisted of over 36 different buildings, making it more of a small town than an apartment complex. Salem Green has only 7 buildings, making it a much smaller, and in return, less crowded and hectic complex with ample enough parking.

Two other things I loved were;
1. The utter lack/inexistence of sound transfer from apartment to apartment
- All apartment walls are lined with thick cement (the buildings were built in the 70's and walls were lined with cement to increase stability). During our 18 month stay there, not once did we ever hear sound of our neighbors coming through the walls (you hear people in the hallways, but never did we hear our neighbors). This was a huge plus for us, given that our son was only 6 months old when we moved in. Not only were we worried that his crying would upset our neighbors, but we feared having loud and obnoxious neighbors. Neither of these were an issue.

2. Virtually immediate response to maintenance requests. Depending on the urgency of the request, they either showed up to fix the problem the same day or the following day. For floods and urgent issues they would arrived within minutes. For smaller issues, they would either come same day or the following day. No matter what they did, they were always very communicative, letting us know what they would do and when they would do it.

Now there were a few negatives, but they were very few indeed. Nearing the end of our stay, many things in the apartment began to wear down (which is to be expected). The apartment was heated by water pipes running along the floor on the back wall. The heater in the corner ended up breaking down and leaking, which slowly drained and soaked half of our living room carpet with nasty, smelly water. Not only did they respond same day to fix the issue, they replaced the heater, installed a brand new thermostat, and later had a professional carpet cleaning service come out and wash our entire apartment. This was well over $2000 worth of repair and services charges that we got absolutely free, in fact, we never paid a penny for any repair service, no matter how minor it was.

The entire time, the management was VERY kind and professional, treating you more like family or a friend than a renter. They were also VERY flexible when it came to extending our lease. We were originally on a 14 month lease, and after a townhouse deal we were working on fell through, they allowed us to stay on a monthly basis (which they don't even offer) for the same price (even though cost of apartment rent had increased since we moved in). This allowed us a lot of freedom and breathing room.

Overall, I personally loved this place. It was our home for a year and a half, and it definitely felt like home. Though we've moved on to bigger and better things, I still miss the place and it's surroundings (another plus, it's 5 minutes away from everything you'll ever need, and 30 seconds from 494) and stop by every once in a while to see how it's doing.

I recommend this place 100%.
