I love my actual apartment, then I moved in... The dishwasher broke and it took three months and three tries to NOT fix it. As soon as we were moving boxes in, I noticed greasy children's handprints all over EVERY wall- the walls they claimed to have just painted. The parking is horrific outside and the garage is a theives dream. Cars get broken into every week, the 'storage cupboards' that we each get have been broken into so many times that management put out a warning notice to make sure you have renters insurance! Then the construction came... I work evening and don't usually get home and into bed until 2 or 3am. I awoke one morning at 6am to a man outside my window pounding on siding, he was staring into my room! That lasted about 5 months. Sure there's new carpet in the lobbies and new paint, but the decor doesn't make the headache worth it. Kids run the halls screaming. We were suppose to have a 'fitness center'. It was filled with mildew and stench, now its been closed for 3 months. It's being 'remodeled', but they have no one contracted to do it. I've been locked out of the garage 3 times in the last 2 months because they recode the openers everytime someone losses the opener or more things turn up missing. People don't clean up after there pets, and the management doens't clean the garbage cans or fill the bags for the people that do. I recently wanted to add my younger brother to the lease. He just returned from Iraq and is out of the military. He's young and doesn't have much of a credit history. I have lived here alone paying nearly a thousand dollars a month and have NEVER been late. They told me today that I would need an extra $801.00 deposit for him to move in. That goes along with the $500.00 dollar non-refundable pet deposit as well as the original deposit for the apartment. Oh, I didn't mention the saftey aspects. The elevators have always been sketchy. They partly close, open to early or trap my little brother for over and hour. The fire department eventually came, but with no help from the EMERGENCY button that doesn't work. Our fire alarms go off so often and for so long, that no one even bothers to leaves their apartments. Even the Fire Dept. takes up to 15 minutes to get here. I have until Tuesday to re-new my lease, and the high pressure sales tactics have not won me over. They did offer me a leasing incentive. Want to know what it was' Oh, well is WAS A RENT INCREASE!!!! Please look elsewhere. I plan on moving three blocks away in the Greystone Heights Apartments and have so far been very impressed. Oh, and their only going to charge my brother and I $250.00. Good luck on your search, but don't stop here!
