We like it here

I will try to be objective, without minimizing the negative reviews or sounding like I work for the management.
The good things about this place:
1) The grounds are being updated on a regular basis. While most people would not care about the new center, my husband and I work out often and enjoy the new workout area. We also play pool (free) and grill out there when we have visitors. They also updated the outdoor pool this year, changed the cedar in the dog park, and resurfaced every single parking lot.
2) They are dog friendly. We have a huge dog who is a real sweetie, but most apartment buildings don't care how nice your dog is if they are over the weight limit. This is one of the few places where he was welcome, and they have a well-kept off leash dog area.
3) Maintenance is really nice. The horrible 60's microwave that was built into the wall was taken down per our request. They even touched up the paint behind where it was. They have also cleaned our disposal twice without getting annoyed.
4) We haven't had any of the issues with neighbors that some are mentioning, although I have noticed that some of the other buildings have less than desireable tenants. I think this may be because (I believe) dog owners are a bit more responsible, and don't tend to party late into the morning hours. So, our building is really quiet and we have friendly neighbors.
The not so fantasic things:
1) This is the only apartment I have ever lived in that charges for water and garbage. This will cost you about $30/mo, so take that into consideration.
2) The pet deposit is HUGE! It was $500, and $300 you are guaranteed to never get back, nonrefundable.
3) The rent is pretty high for the quality of the living space. We only have a small 1 bedroom, and it's 900/mo with the dog rent of $25. The appliances are aging in most units. There is a scarcity of kitchen space, we had to give away a lot of our small appliances since there was nowhere to put anything. The people who painted the apartment did a terrible job, as there is white paint all over the doors, woodwork, switchplates, and some places even left the blue painters tape. The A/C is only in one room, and will never get into the bedroom no matter how high it is on. When Comcast came to install our cable, they were perplexed by how the electric work could possibly be up to code. We can actually pull the wiring out of the wall without unscrewing anything. We finally taped the switchplates to the wall in case our dog tried to chew them.
4) The parking spaces are really tiny underground. We are stuck between 2 SUV's that don't have much care for their doors dinging our car.
Overall, this is one of the better places for the area if you have a dog. If you don't have a dog, there are a couple of better places to go.

You haven't been here long if you think the dog owners are "more responsible" than others living in the complex. One "responsible" dog owner seems to never be able to get their dog outside - the south stairwell regularly reeks of urine. Others let their dogs unirate in the garage or crap in the hallways. The garbage chute is often filled beyond capacity. People in the dog building regularly keep the shopping carts in their rooms overnight so that none are available when you most desperately need them. Several folks don't pick up their dog's feces outside. And the idiots that live above me crank their music up all hours of the night, which management has told me I need to call the police about (rather than their dealing with it).
As for the parking lot resurfacing, that was done in the most inconvenient way possible. Two buildings at a time, meaning that 350 cars had to park in the streets, making the driving areas between the buildings unusable for a week. The new club room is nice. I'm afraid, however, that it is the only nice thing about the place.
