A fair and honest review.

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2007
I have lived here for 3 years now, and I just have to laugh at the other negative reviews on here.
Calhoun towers was orignially built as a luxury apartment complex. Over the years, it saw a lot of ware and tear and came to be what one of the reviews described. Great location, but old and in need of TLC. The managment was more popular with a lot of the residents I guess, but really let the place go.
Since I came here, the building has changed managers, (to the new "gestapo") who has really turned things around. They are doing a great job and the place looks better then ever. The renovations have been inconvenient, but really worth it. From what I have seen so far...
- We are getting new elevators that are faster then the old ones,
- A new parkinglot,
- The building has been painted and looks great driving up,
- They have redecorated the lobby and basement levels, (looks really nice)
- Put in new lights in the undergrond parking garage, painted it, plus they have just put up signs that they are going to repave it too,
- They put up a whole bunch of new cameras and have security staff now,
- They have a new guest sign in at the entry to the visitor's lot, (looks really classy)
The building really is starting to look like a luxury tower again. And my apartment looks great. As nice as anything at E&G or the BeachClub, but the views from here kill both of them.
All that stuff about a 30 foot hole in the garage, and looking really shabby, and poor maintenance is a real laugh! The 30 foot hole happened when they repaved the parking deck above it. Think about that.
My maintenance has always been prompt and courtious, managment treats people fairly now. The last managment gave preferential treatment to the people who complained and yelled the most.
Now they make people follow the rules and give the work orders a priority. If my sink is backing up, I don't have to wait an hour while they fix someones' closet door that went off track. Though, apparently some people don't like that.
I never have noise problems, and the building seems to be concrete construction, which is really nice. I also happen to like the "industrial toilets". I never have a problem with them. Not like those flimsy toilets with the bobbers and the tank that break down or clog up all the time like my last place.
All in all, it is a nice building, and it is getting even nicer. If they actually even have an apartment available, take a look.
