Great experience at Diamond Eight

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2008
I moved out of my apartment at Diamond Eight at the end of Jan, 2008, after 3 years living there, and I had a very good experience overall. In the past 3 years, lots of improvements were made to the property (new carpet, paint & lights in hallways which made it much more welcoming, new signs and landscaping, etc) - probably because of new management. I always felt safe, enjoyed my neighbors (though most of us kept mostly to ourselves), and felt blessed to live in such a HUGE apartment for such a low rent, with off-street parking and a huge lawn, to boot. With new management also came a nicer "community" feel, fostered partially by a monthly newsletter informing residents of various events, and giving reminders about polite community-living guidelines & policies.
I'm confused by a lot of the other comments I've seen posted here, because I was never bothered by the noise on 37th Ave (and I lived on that side) or the trains (though admittedly, I wasn't right next to them), or from neighbors in other apartments (thin walls' Are you kidding' I never heard more than creaking when people walked around, water running when people showered, or the occasional bass thump from someone watching a loud movie next door). And I didn't really have any issues with the management, Kleinman or on-site. In fact, whenever I had a problem, I generally received a timely response, especially for maintenance requests. When the city had a water back-up issue and my apartment flooded (no fault of Diamond Eight), the onsite maintenance guy was incredibly prompt and helpful, and my apartment was cleaned up and had a new carpet installed within a few days.
Overall, my experience at Diamond Eight was great, and I was kind of sad to move out! It's not posh by any means, but it's certainly clean (cleaners came and took care of all the common areas weekly), safe, spacious and well-managed, from my experience. I would certainly recommend Diamond Eight to anyone.
