Seriously, get a house if you are going to live here. First, you wont have crappy management. Despite what people say, they do care...about getting their payments on time. If you are serious about this place, get your lease to a lawyer. NOT A DRAMATIZATION. Lease says you cannot be a pain and bring in band instruments. My neighbors had a drum set...which took 3 months for Melrose to do something about. Wouldnt mind as much if they werent the William Hung of Metallica- and were proud of it.
Also, bring a calculator or five because the staff does not specialize in math or thinking. Lived here for 10 months and have had 8 billing errors and wrongful eviction notices. One tip to those who go ahead and sign the lease: the people who work here are only empty models. They look ohh so good but cannot answer anything or even come up with any coherent response. I have asked, "does the heat run off electricity or gas'" Brainless Melrose drone responds, "we power it like any another place. We use heat." FYI: it runs off electricity.
Finally, I love all the characters that live here. For example, the druggies that live next door to me. I also love the girls that say I am expensive. There is an over-abundance of girls here that demand their dates to have BMWs.
Ohh, finally their executive managers. These people are characters in a class of their own. We have one overly large and in charge woman who yells up and down the hallways like its a holiday everyday. Then we have the big boss of them all, who has yet to reveal herself. She responds to attorney threats ONLY. 1-800-WIN-WIN1 (Woods and Thompson, PA)
Parking... right, go buy yourself a new iPod after two months of not parking. Safety, there are many doors with keycard swipers. Too bad most of the doors are propped open 95% of the time. dont be alarmed if Homeless John Doe follows you home. The rent-a-cop at night is pretty useless. If you are looking for easy pay and are easily amused consider applying for that position. The gameroom is over-rated. They should scrap the entire room and grow a freaking tree. Nothing in that room is in working condition.
Despite the appearance of the walls, they are poorly insulated. You can usually hear couples getting frisky at night through the vents or walls. May or may not be due to our neighbor's fetish with walls.
If you ever want to have visitors park in the "Visitor Lot," it is not happening. Just a bunch of frat/sorority hippy freaks abusing the system. Does not help when fatty at the front desk says quietly, "I am not checking the parking today, its cold out."
Pros-
Easy but expensive lays
Great free tanning (everyone uses buddy system)
Friendly courtesy officer- walk right by. Dont make eye contact.
Always got a party goin on.
Lightens school stress- by promoting no studying.
Even has Melrose Idol for all you next gen hopefuls.
