You heard me right. If you decide to live here at the Melrose, you are living here at your own risk. This is one of those places that look very convenient, well kept, and the lease looks great.... until you take a closer look.
Yes, they have a fitness center. Unfortunately, the treadmills done work have of the time and are never fixed in any timely sort of manner. The only positive is the weight system... at least that works. The game room: yep, they have pool and pingpong... too bad the pool tables are in pretty shoddy condition... makes for an interesting game of pool thats for sure. Parking... Melrose give you a choice between outside and indoor parking... not much of a choice since 90% of the spaces are indoor and the going rate is $90 a month. Talk about a rip off! There is no phone in the apartment unless you pay for it yourself. For those of you who use only your cell phone, that wont be a problem. Electricity is also not included, and both the heat and AC is electric. So during the winter expect to throw away $30 dollars a month per person. Lets talk apartment audio insulation: THERE IS NONE!!! If you are living in the fourth bedroom down the hall will your door closed, you can still hear a conversation going on in the first bedroom as if you there, and they are only talking at a normal level!! Its also a lot of fun to be woken up in the middle of the night to your roommates getting it on. Yeah and so much for the wonders of the suitmate matching service. Try as Melrose might, the "superior" matching service has many holes. So I recoommend answering the questions as cautiously as possible if you decide to sign your life away. And in that regard, dont even expect to get your security deposit back even if everything is in the same exact shape you found it in when your first moved in. They will find someway to screw you over... like charging you for them having to wash the carpets. Also, read the fine print in the lease... PLEASE! There is a line in there that essentially says that "Melrose has the right to re-locate you to another apartment anytime they feel it is in the best interest of the apartment complex." What kind of crap is that'!! And yes they will do it... they did it to me, and only have 3 months left on my lease, and they want me to pack up and move just so i can pack up again and move out of this hole 3 months later. Being that the case, I'm sure they will find a way to make me pay more money for this place i live in now and the place I will be moving into. Melrose says they care about there residents. The only true part of that statement is that they do care... about the residents money. The management is run by people who dont have a very good idea of whats going on and those that have the "real power" are pretty unfeeling. All in all, this has been a pretty frustrating experience, and thinking things could get better during my second year was the biggest misjudgment I could make. Again, you can certainly find better and cheaper places to live just a little bit further away from here. And if you do decide that you think living here is going to be a wonderful experience, heed this warning "YOU'RE RENTING HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!"

I think this guy has it wrong. I love living here and resigned my lease for another year.

if you re-signed a 30 page lease that basically signs your life over to the melrose staff, you're off your rocker.
