Ok, although this apartment is not as awesome as it may seem at first, it is still way nicer than any other apartment that I have came across in the area, unless you want to live in a suburb and drive forever in traffic every day. The staff isn't the brighest, but what do you expect when you have a bunch of students working somewhere...I have never had any problems with my lease or billing that I haven't brought on myself. I got my rent in late...I got a late fee...is that not understandable'' I don't know of any other apartments that don't charge if rent is late. You need to be just as responsible as you would with any other apartment you live in. And for what everyone else has been saying about the lease, anywhere you rent, or actually any time you sign anything you should always read everything... no matter what apartment or house you live in there is always going to be things in the lease that you won't like...you either have to deal with it or don't live there if you are going to complain. It's your own fault if you sign something and you aren't completely aware of what it says; just be responsible and read through it before you sign. Another thing, about the parking, yes $90 is a lot, but you have to understand that you are living in a city where there isn't a lot of space, and you also have to realize how many apartments charge more than the Melrose or don't even have parking at all. The basic lots outside or parking ramps that you have to park in for a lot of apartments cost well over $100 a month and they aren't attached. Yes, the rooms and bathrooms are small, but who doesn't tour the apartments before you rent it out''' If you are complaining about the size you should have thought about that before you rent it out. I have looked at many different apartments around the area and I can not find any that are in the city for less than I am paying now. For the people who say that rent is more here than any other place that they check on... First of all it's not always the case, and second, there are hardly any apartemnts out there that include interet and cable and even though it might seem that these don't cost that much, they do add up. And if you don't care about having them then move somewhere else and don't get them. One big plus about these apartments is the laundry in each unit. Most places I have looked at do not have that to offer. Basically what it comes down to why people don't like living at tht Melrose is because they think they have been let down and this place is crappier than they first thought when they saw it, but what many people don't realize is that it is just like any other apartment...no matter where you live you have a chance of bad neighbors, you have a chance of signing something you don't want to by not being responsible and reading the whole lease BEFORE you sign it, no matter if you use them or not the ammenities are convienent and most places don't have them, and you end up paying around the same price if parking is included or not...the other places just increase the rent instead of charge seperate for the parking. You need to be responsible for you own actions and realize that the Melrose IS student housing so you need to expect that it will probalby be noisy and there will most likely be parties going on, so if that is something you don't like then I woulnd't recommend for you to live here, otherwise it is a good apartment with lots of things to offer that many other apartments can't. Although it is a little pricy, you know that going into it, and you are guarenteed the same price if you renew, you just need to make sure you don't sign the lease until it is right, and it is more afforadable for everything included than most other apartments in the area unless you are in a scary area. Despite what many others say this is a good place to live.

LOL this review is a joke. i used to work at melrose in the leasing offie and it really is as bad as it sounds. this place preys on the naive freshmen. As for this person saying she couldnt find anywhere else at this price. that is just a bold face lie. There are literally tons of places for cheaper. melrose is 620 for one room in a 4 bedroom apartmnet. that makes it over 2400 for one apartment. I have my own one bedroom apartment inbetween downtown and uptown. it costs 635 a month i have free parking, and i dont have to share. my apartment is 600 square feet, i have a huge bedroom and the windows open. Plus the staff here is way better (stevens community apartments). As for this person saying that you cant complain because you should have read the lease. thats just wrong, when someone signs a lease they are lied to about many things. like how thin the walls are. oh and about parking again. i park for free at my apartment, but if you want a private spot its 25-45$ not 90, which is ridiculous because its not even close to downtown like where i live. i guess in short this is an overpriced dorm, but you dont get the food included. so i would recommend seriosuly talking to residents before living there because i can guarantee you, 99% of people who you talk to will tell you not to live there. this person who wrote this review i bet works in the office. only someone who worked in the office would write a review like this. but i worked there too and im not going to lie, it is a horrible place to live
