ok for the price

I lived in these apartments for 6 months. The price was abosolutely unbeatable ($499 $25 dog rent per month). The size was also great for the price. Management was also great. The apartment was clean when I moved in, and well-kept. Maintenance was great, they helped out promptly when you had a problem. However, there were several things I could have done without. Mainly, the area. Brooklyn Park is a bit of a waste town, as everything appears to be closing, or is closed. There is security patrolling the lots, however, the day I was moving in, I was approached by a drug dealer trying to sell pot...as security drove on by. Several weeks later, I was approached by someone selling designer knockoff purses in the back of their trunk. One of the security doors was broken and didn't lock the entire time I lived there. Fire alarms went off on a regular basis (perhaps someone's crack rock fell on the carpet and burned a hole'). And one night, there was a lady screaming and running down the halls saying someone was after her, even though there was no one running in the halls WITH her. So there is a few crazies living alongside the more mentally sound tenants. I called the police, and they didn't show up for 20-30 minutes. Another time, a large helicopter landed in the big field where people walk their dogs RIGHT in front of my window. Also, sound travels VERY easily in these apartments. I lived on the 2nd floor and am a bit clumsy, so if I dropped so much as a spoon on the floor, the neighbors would come up and complain. The people who lived above me were often ridiculously loud and seemed to have a new guest every week (whether it be a baby, a dog, or an adult, there was always someone new). But that could have just been from the thin walls...
Also, there were a lot of domestic disputes between neighbors from what I could hear. Towards the last few months I lived there, I heard several gunshots on a weekly basis, which is what really motivated me to move.
However, with all of this, it IS still a good deal for the size and the amenities, as long as you keep your distance from...everyone else.
I was a single 20 year old female from Plymouth when I moved there, and I never felt particularly unsafe, just annoyed by the soliciters and reqular fire alarms.
I would NOT recommend this place if you can afford to live elsewhere. However, if you are short on funds, it really is excellent for the price. If I found myself in a position where I could only afford around $500 a month for rent, I would consider moving to these apartments again.
