The problems we've encountered with our apartment here are not typical of what everyone here experiences, mostly because interesting situations arose that are not common. The way they have been handled has not been how I envisioned they would be handled when the lease was signed. When one person moved out at the semester break due to transferring schools, they decided to stop paying their rent even though they had not yet found a subleaser. After this the lease was looked over very closely, and a few irregularities were found in the lease. It is not incorrect in anything, yet just uncommon for a lease that is with a building to house mostly students. There is no out clause if you must move out, other than subleasing. But because everyone signs only one lease and there is nothing to do with how the rent is split, the others left at the apartment are expected to fill in the extra portion each month. Then the apartment was showed to random people without the knowledge of both current tenants, and someone signed a lease to move in without the current tenants being notified until after the fact. There was no discussion on the costs or situation, other than she would be receiving her keys and moving in soon, meaning after she moved in we were all expected to figure out who pays what. If she decided she didn't want to pay what we had previously decided as a fair rent for the room that was not shared, it would become quite a problem. And the internet company they have a contract with and recommend to tenants (due to wireless internet not being allowed) is actually a "part-time" company which was not known by any of us renting, meaning it is hard to get ahold of someone at the company if you have questions or problems. Sometimes it would take a few days to hear back. The rooms themselves are very nice, and the area we lived in was good. While sometimes it was loud, noise wasn't as much of a problem at some other places where the walls are thinner. Overall, I'll be very glad when my one year lease is up and I don't have to deal with the management or policies any longer.

I'd also definitely not recommend the internet service they suggest and have a contract with, they are a part-time company that can take a few days to get back to you sometimes. It's almost worth paying a little more to go with a big company that you can call and talk to someone at every day if you need to.

You should have read your lease and all the paperwork before signing anything. Ask questions when you are about to sing a contract for 12 MONTH, that way you won't blame management or whomever later.

I agree -- their Internet provider sucks. Call Qwest for DSL as soon as you move in.
